About Me

ABOUT ME
I don't really know how to talk about and describe myself because I consider myself pretty ordinary (at least when compared to the other 24 year old girls I know). But I'll give it a try.
I'm a 24 years old portuguese girl born and raised in Porto. For a long time I though I wanted to be a nurse and that was it but 3 years ago I felt that I needed to see people and places and find out about what was going on outside my bubble so I decided to drop out from nursing school, I started working as an assistant for a wedding planner and decided to go travel on my own. Now I still work in the same company and I'm studying marketing at the same time.
I love meeting new people and learning from other cultures because you can always see things from a different perspective. I think it's important to be open to change and question everything around you so you can constantly improve yourself and the way you live your life.
About things I don't like: I hate being late and I don't like to be kept waiting (which tends to be a problem: if you live in Portugal, you know that the portuguese are certainly not known for their punctuality).
As I mentioned above, I work with weddings, I'm a wedding planner's assistant, which is great because I get to meet lots of different people, including people from other countries! (If you didn't know Portugal is currently a trendy place for destination weddings, now you know :))
But ... enough of talking about me, otherwise when we meet you'll already know everything there is to know :p
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, my first motivation to look for something like couchsurfing was the opportunity to get free accommodation because as a portuguese 22 year old (at the time) who didn't work it wasn't very easy to come up with much money for traveling.
This was until I started going deeper in this website and read about the whole concept of couchsurfing and found out that more than free accommodation, this is about meeting people and cultures, learning new things and sharing experiences, which is something I love and those things are actually what I mostly look for when traveling (instead of just sightseeing and taking pictures).

I'm always trying to find new music/movies and books. Feel free to message me your suggestions!
But I'm mostly into pop and hip-hop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is the most personal field here since 'amazing' might have a totally different meaning for each person.
I've never done anything that most people consider amazing like volunteering in Africa or paragliding in Rio de Janeiro...
On the other hand, I overcame being diagnosed with a chronic disease at the age of 19 and used it to find my way, enrolled in nursing school and after three years I quit because I figured it just wasn't for me.
Also, I saved a friend from drowning when I was 5 and he was 4 :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I could spend my entire life just learning new languages and would be absolutely happy about it but above all I'm eager to learn as much as I can!
I'm an open book so I'm happy to teach you and share everything I know with you. I can teach you wedding planning related stuff, Portuguese, things related to nursing, and probably other things I can't think of right now.
