About Me

I consider myself a welcoming person, eager to help people out and make them feel comfortable. I'm a physiotherapy student, nearly finished my degree and weighing my options for work. I have big plans to travel after paying off my student loans. Otherwise, I'm completely new to the world of travelling and am eager to get my feet wet.
I am currently living with my wonderful boyfriend Spencer who has had a number of great experiences through couch surfing and was the person who introduced me to this community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I live to make connections with people. I thrive on helping people and learning about them as well as sharing my own thoughts and experiences. This is a wonderful place where I can do all of these things and make some awesome new friends from all over the world.

Interests

I have quite the handful of interests that I use to keep myself busy. I paint, crochet, knit, draw, read, I play ultimate frisbee, yoga, I enjoy hiking, canoeing, swimming, bicycling, running long distances, dancing, listening to music, I love going to karaoke, etc. I'm game to try anything at least once.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very wide spread taste in music. Currently I've been listening to a lot of folk music, but I'm never opposed to listening to something new. To name a few of my favourites: Avicii, Muse, Alt J, Tegan and Sara, Sam Roberts, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, Norah Jones, Patrick Park, Radio head, etc.

I really enjoy reading. While being in school it has been difficult to be able to spend the time it takes reading, and even so I have gone through a fair number of books outside of my school textbooks. To name a few of my favourite books, both fiction and non-fiction: The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, The Ethical Slut by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy, Dragon keeper by Robin Hobb. These are my most recent reads and some that I most thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm a big fan of movies that get you thinking or that capture all of your attention. For that reason, and many others, Cloud Atlas is definitely one of my favourite movies of all time. Aside from that, I can't get enough of the feel good animated movies like "Up," Brave, the Incredible, Big Hero 6. Etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've helped someone regain function enough to be able to live independently at home, with perhaps a little extra support. This is why I love physiotherapy, and why I'm excited to move on with this career. I hope to take this profession to other countries and help in what ever way seems natural or possible with my limited experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach what you know, learn absolutely everything you can, and share your experiences along the way :). Seems like the best way to go about living to me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What ever is available to me is also available to you while you stay with me. My boyfriend and I are accommodating. You will have access to our WiFi, laundry services, seasonal pool (as long as it's the right season). We are also situated in one of the most vibrant places in Winnipeg. Osborne village has a number of great restaurants and hot spots. We are also central enough to have access to a number of different bus routes to get around the city as needed.
