About Me

Me, I'm on a gap year from my studies to figure out what I want in life (typical quarter-life crisis). Working full-time in the meantime, but I hope to spend more time on meaningful activities like community service, volunteering, travelling, learning new skills and languages, etc.

So far I've tried my hand in online courses, pole dancing, gymnastics (still not very good at it..), French and some Dutch. Before I go back to school, I hope to travel to Europe, US and Australia, and also other South East Asian countries for overseas community work. We'll see how it goes!

Unfortunately I can't host at the moment as I live with a very big family (and a noisy pup), but that might change in a couple of years when I move out for my studies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love learning about different cultures and exchanging stories. (I hope to be work in foreign affairs and international security some day!) Though I haven't had much experience travelling, I keep an open mind and am eager to try new things! Singapore is a really tiny country and there is so much more in the world that I have yet to see.

I'm also very touched by all the lovely references I see here. Really hope that I can have the privilege of making lifelong friends from across the globe here as well!

Interests

Reading, cycling (but not very good at it) and people watching. I'm a little reserved sometimes, but I love meaningful conversations and trying new things! I'm not the most daring when it comes to heights, but I like to think I can be pretty ballsy.

When travelling, I like to visit museums and old places! I try my best to learn to live like a local when overseas, but I also have to indulge my inner tourist because the curiosity kills me.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I like almost all British pop and then some.

Movies - I watch all kinds but not a huge fan of romance. I love getting film recommendations, especially foreign films! Silence of the Lambs was brilliant, but it made me squeamish.

I'm a slow reader and I spend most of my time on non-fiction and Sherlock Holmes. Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being is one of my favourites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling to L'isle sur La Sorgue - it was only my third time cycling ever and it almost cost me my life, but the view was breathtaking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm young and my travel experiences are limited, so I have more to learn than to teach, but I'm always happy to share (food, knowledge, stories etc).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about Singapore, my home! It's a young cosmopolitan city with a vibrant culture but not everyone knows about us yet. Unfortunately I can't host as I live with a very big family, but if you ever visit I would be glad to show you around!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, France, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
