About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To grow a garden, see the world, and love my job

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Mexico, and spent many years since then exploring what the rest of the world has to offer (and there are still SO MANY places I want to experience, but all in good time). I have seen some beautiful places and met amazing people along the way. I settled down for a bit and went back to school, then I worked for almost a year at a skilled nursing facility. Now I am ready to travel again before settling into my next job.

I like anything involving creativity, especially using recycled materials and new ideas. One of my favorite creative passions is food...I adore cooking, and feasting. I especially enjoy a good fondue and sushi picnics galore.

I hope to have a homestead someday, and I am looking for that place where I can set down roots. But for now, I am hoping to keep meeting fantastic people along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

To live in the now as much as I can, but to understand that now is part of the future

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Communities of people down with opening their homes and their experiences to each other is the kind of world I want to be part of...so I thought I would give couchsurfing a try.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a great experience in my native state New Mexico, I grew up there but had never tasted homemade red chili sauce until staying at a couchsurfing place in Las Cruces. Not only did they make us fresh enchiladas for the memory banks...but also showed us the best root beer in the state...and we all had a dance party in the car on the way "home".

Music, Movies, and Books

If I start a list I may never stop...

Barbara Kingsolver and Tom Robbins are two of my favorite authors, I dislike horror movies and only enjoy screamy punk if it is live.

Love, love, love live bluegrass music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first was leaving my hometown and there have been so many since.

The one that comes to mind is sitting on a steep mountain ridge in New Zealand eating an orange and looking out across the expanse. The dusty trail followed ridges and wound around mountaintops further than my eyes could see, I just remember thinking, 'I am going to explore all that before the day is over'

Teach, Learn, Share

Right now I am interested in DIY sustainability. Whatever I have to share I hope to, I am not an expert at anything but continue to build my skills. I know some basics on food preservation, helping to organize community meals and events, various crafts like block making and hand sewing, herbal plants and medicine (this is my newest interest...so Im new), also I can darn socks and give a pretty mean haircut.

I am now trying to learn all there is to learn about the human body so that I can be good at my new career path.
