About Me
One of my mottos, is "Why not?" I love experiencing new things and saying yes to life - a bon vivant. I am an eternal optimist and can find the silver lining in just about any experience. I'm a Unitarian Universalist with strong Taoist and earth tradition leanings. I am a member of a local spoken word troupe and have written fairly decent poetry since I was a child. I find it comfortable living in the grey instead of black and white. There are many ways to approach life that are just different, not right or wrong. I enjoy hearing new perspectives.
I coparent two small dogs with my exhusband, so they are usually in my home weekdays. But one is no shed and one is low shed and have never bothered anyone'sallergies, including my own. And they are ready to be your new best friends!
Likes: Entertaining at home, walking, old movies, listening to local live music, college football, knitting, karaoke, fine bourbon, talking about life deep in to the night, breakfast at a diner, spreading joy.
Dislikes: Narrowmindedness, rigidity, messy environments, violence
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet a wider variety of people and welcome them in to my home. To eventually be welcomed when I travel.
Music, Movies, and Books
Book - Jitterbug Perfume, Tom Robbins
Movies - Rom Coms, Mafia, Audrey Hepburn/era
Music - a little bit of everything! I just said the other day though, that I have had three albums on cassette tape, CD, and now digitally - Sting's Nothing Like the Sun, James Taylor's Greatest Hits, and Indigo Girls' Rites of Passage. So I must like those a lot. Otherwise, I listen to everything from crooners to rap, but most often pick something rather mellow.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am a published textbook author with a major publishing house in my field.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help you figure out your medical bill! I'll teach you my grandmother's (probably at least my great grandmother's) borscht and dumplings recipe, as adapted by me. Or we'll cook up an easy pavlova. Let me tell you about Tom Robbins and his books, and you share your passion about literature with me.
I'll teach you to knit or crochet! And I'm a firm believer that new fiber artists should always have their first tools gifted to them, just like my grandmothers did for me.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am an amazing cook and would love to cook for you! I'll help you practice your English if you'll forgive my poor (but trying) understanding of your language.
