About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To infinity, and beyond!

ABOUT ME

My BeWelcome profile: http://www.bewelcome.org/members/menchi

I'm 25, came to Lyon to study. I'm a metalhead!
I guess I could say I'm interested in people: meeting them, exchanging, sharing and trying to understand (which is why I chose to study psychology). I'm pretty much like a sponge: I "absorb" a bit of every person I meet, what they tell me, what they do, their philosophy, what they share with me, and that's how I build myself and make choices. I learn to sort the good from the bad and get richer with every new meeting.

PHILOSOPHY

First: enjoy! Life is what you want it to be: if you think something is good for you, it'll be, so just do it! Try not to be a victim but an actor. Everything is about how you interpret it!
Also, I try as much as possible to live with this motto: don't do to others what wouldn't like others to do to you. Well, it was quite hard translating, I hope it makes sense...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't host people who don't take the time to read my profile and don't customize their request a bit: I'm not a free hostel and to me it's totally not the spirit of CS. It sounds a bit grumpy, but I've had experiences that disappointed me. I want to meet people!
I host people when I could, and I like to be hosted to meet the local fauna! Now I'd love to share a bit with people passing by my city!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love to host people when I have a "home". Though I'm moving quite often these years, it's not always easy. I live in an apartment share and my roommates aren't into hosting people, so I'm not hosting these years. Meeting travelers feel like traveling a bit, that's great! And I love to be hosted too!

Interests

What I'm the most interested in is music, it's getting more and more important in my life. I'm the singer of a glam metal band called NoXXious. Lots of fun! I go to a lot of concerts. I love listening to music, buying records, go to concerts and festivals and talking about music.

I love to travel too. I always have on my mind my next trip, planned or dreamed and I love to host travelers because it's like traveling a little. I love to party! To me there's nothing as great as cooking a good (vegetarian) meal and drinking a good bottle of red wine with it and a good friend, I do it often. I try to enjoy as much as I can being alive, I'm pretty happy about what I'm doing with my life!

Also I'm passionate about photography, especially concert photography. I love to shoot bands (haven't killed anyone so far). I'm not a professional and still have a lot to learn (but who doesn't eh?), and I love it! You can check out my Flickr if you're interested: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142462450@N03/

Music, Movies, and Books

Pedro Almodovar, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock mostly for the movies.

I mostly listen to 80's metal: glam metal, heavy metal, hard rock, and a bit of other genres. I like reggae, classical, a bit of ska and probably some more I can't remember right now. I enjoy listening to music, and also living it: laying down, concentrating on what I'm listening to and feeling it moving me, touching me deeply. That's how I enjoy Pink Floyd.
About books I like literature, I'd say my favorite book is Les liaisons dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos. I like classics like Victor Hugo, Léon Tolstoï, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Boris Vian, Emile Zola, Steinbeck, and much more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen an incredible sunrise from the top of Borobudur temple in Java. And others cool sunrises and sunshines, they're so beautiful. The sun is just fucking awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to share about good music, good movies and good books! I also love to hear and tell cool stories about anything: I love passionate people.
I can teach you what I know about photography even though I'm not an expert (yet!). I can share some nice recipes, tell my guests about what's nice in Lyon.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can't host people in my flat unfortunately... I can take you out to go for a drink or a concert. I like to cook a good meal and love to share wine. Also I can share my organs, as I still have two kidneys. Haven't had the occasion to share that so far.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United States
