About Me
Current Destination: USA 6th April - 16th June
Where I've been -
I grew up in the fine fields of Ramsbottom (yes, it's a real place near Manchester) but I did my BA in London with study abroad in Lyon for 6 months and Berlin for 6 months. After graduation, I volunteered with an NGO for 4 months in Tanzania (Pemba island to be specific) to teach English. After Tanzania, I moved back to Berlin for a year for work but I've been in India for 2 months travelling around and staying with family and I'm now going to the States on a Coast-to-Coast journey with a friend. I hope to meet you along the way :)
My philosophy and topics I always end up taking about -
With every "major" decision I make I always ask myself the following question: "What will I regret more in 15 years when I have responsibilities and won't be so free?" This has pretty much driven me over the past two years. I would describe myself as a firm believer in Gender, Sexual and Sexuality equality and I'm a europhile and keen linguist.
About me -
I prefer being with friends and new people as much as I can be to learn about different cultures and ways of thinking. I'm usually the one to organise drinks/dinners/nights out with friends. I try to enjoy life for what it is and though I despair at a lot of modern politics and the realities/constraints of life at times, I think people are pretty amazing and everything really is what you make of it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm an inherent believer in people and I love the idea that there is a group of people who just want to help each other out. I've never officially Couch Surfed before but whenever I go somewhere, I never book a hostel or hotel - I always stay with friends or friends of friends.
I've always treated my home as my friends' home and try to be as welcoming as I can. I remember a friend of a friend from Frankfurt (whom I'd never med) staying with me in London and it was great to tour-guide, go out and start a friendship that's going to this day :)
If I can surf with you, I'd be more than happy to return the favour!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I taught English in Tanzania on the small island Pemba and I tutored 2 girls before and after lessons to receive a US High School and the possibility of a College scholarship. The girls didn't believe they could get the scholarships and were always told that it would be more difficult for girls to get it. I tutored the girls after school they have their High School scholarships and are in with a good shot of the college one too!
