CURRENT MISSION
New Zealand: From Toe to Tip
ABOUT ME
My name is Teun, and I am from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Two of my main hobby's are cycling and traveling. I'm planning to combine them in New Zealand by cycling from the South Island (Invercargill/Bluff) to the North (Auckland). During my trip I will be looking for hosts who can support me with a stay overnight.
I always lived in the Netherlands, expect for being abroad for short periods in Istanbul, Hong Kong, Osaka and New York. Currently I live and work in Amsterdam.
At two earlier stages I was happy enough to combine cycling and traveling. I once went through Europe (from NL to Rome) with my brothers, and I went on a bike from North to South Japan after I studied there.
On my way through Japan I had a very good experience with couchsurfing, where I met a lot of interesting people on my way (see the reviews).
In New Zealand I also hope to have time for other (outdoor) activities than cycling. Cycling will be my main occupation though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In Amsterdam I live with roommate, which makes it hard to participate. I will move to my own place later this year, which gives me the opportunity to participate. I did participate by couchsurfing in Japan.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Good couchsurfing experience in Japan during my cycling trip!
Interests
I like outdoor sports as cycling, running, ice-skating, sailing and swimming. This is also what attracted me to New-Zealand.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some great books:
`How trade shaped the world' by Peter L. Bernstein.
`Guns, germs and steel' by Jared Diamond.
'Too Big To Fail' by Andrew Ross Sorkin
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
'Amazing' is something relative, but if I had to pick something it would be my cycling trip from the north to the south of Japan in 2010. This also encouraged me to do it one more time: in New Zealand (except this time from south to north).
