Hello! I am a recent college graduate currently traveling Europe with my girlfriend Molly. We're both classical singers that have been doing summer programs in Italy, Austria, and the UK, with stops in between. Though we're both originally from the US west coast, we'll be based in the Northeast when we go back to the US. Besides music, I have a great love for philosophy (particularly the ancient Greeks and Buddhists), literature, cooking, fermented things, and the natural world.

I am also an outgoing person and love conversation! part of the reason why I enjoy travel is getting the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures, and home-stays are often the best way to experience that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I see myself as a traveller, not a tourist, so I want to meet the people that live in the places I go rather than just take pictures of their city and leave. Hotels are designed to be impersonal, and are way too expensive for me anyway. I've Couch-surfed before with my dad a few years ago in Boston and had a great time, and have also spent a few months total working on people's farms through the organization WWOOF. I have a basic trust in most strangers to be nice people (crazy right?) and really appreciate the generosity of opening up their houses to me.

Bach is my favorite composer, I love all music by him. I also love Monteverdi, Schubert, Gesualdo Debussy, Mozart, Shostakovich, Philip Glass...I like classical music a lot.
For jazz: Brad Mehldau, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Wayne Shorter.
Everything else: The Punch Brothers, Kendrick Lamar, BROCKHAMPTON, Gabriel Kahane, Roomful of Teeth.

Books: The Brothers Karamazov, the Dhammapada, Kafka on the Shore, Beyond Good and Evil, The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, The Righteous Mind, and whatever I'm currently reading!

Movies: The Big Lebowski, 2001 a Space Odyssey, Star Wars (especially VI), Darjeeling Limited, Princess Mononoke, everything by Monty Python.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Performed in a choir alongside Kenny Loggins (of 'Danger Zone' fame) on live TV in front of the US capitol building. I'm not even that patriotic, seriously, but somehow life put me in that position...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a pretty accomplished singer and pianist, so I am happy to offer an impromptu music lesson/jam session if there's time/interest. I also write songs/compose music.

I'm also happy to share my enthusiasm for philosophy and history, and would love to learn from you!
