ABOUT ME

My friends describe me as calm, loving, intelligent, creative, cute, and fun. I'm mellow and interested in spirituality and wellness. You won't find me at the bars or clubs--I'm not interested in that scene. Although I am a self-proclaimed homebody, I've traveled the world and have been blessed with a full life with loads of adventures!

I believe in being open-minded and removing judgement. I love life, and I love what I'm creating with it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since August 2010, I have hosted 3 lovely couch surfers! I've also gotten to hang out with some pretty amazing couch surfers, too :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had some fantastic people visit. On a whim, a CSer and I drove to the beach, and spent a fun evening in Galveston. Another CSer and I went around town, sampling all of the different vegan cuisine that Houston has to offer. I have yet to stay on someone's couch, but am looking for that opportunity!

Interests

Yoga, meditation, cooking and un-cooking (raw foods), hanging out with cats and dogs, playing in the dirt, playing music, drawing, creative pursuits. I like being a bold fun-haver!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't own a TV. From time to time, I catch episodes of the Daily Show/Colbert Report online. I also use Netflix to watch movies or TV shows. My favs are Arrested Development and United States of Tara. My favorite movies are Amelie and I Heart Huckabees. I love to watch documentaries, foreign films, and independent movies.

My favorite musicians/bands are Dar Williams, Andrew Bird, Mates of State, Cursive, Sharon Von Etten, the Decemberists. I like Indie music, folk music, world music. I have a penchant for Oldies, and, yes, I love to sing along to Crimson and Clover.

I love NPR. Terry Gross is God's gift to the world. I also enjoy listening to KPFT, an independent radio station in Houston..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Antarctica when I was an undergraduate and camped in the Dry Valleys. I saw amazing glaciers, but sadly, no penguins. However, I did see skuas (another type of bird) and some lichen. Not much survives out there!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a meditation and yoga instructor, and would love to share some practices with you.

I love cooking and can provide lessons on veganism.

I would love to learn more about other cultures and practice speaking Spanish!
