ABOUT ME

Born and grew up in London, worked for a bank, saved up money, quit the bank, traveled overland from Europe to South-east Asia, studied Thai and Chinese, worked in many a godforsaken place in Australia so that I could come to China to study Chinese, then finally came home to London, which is where I am now.

I guess I'm not really one for writing much on profiles. It's more fun to get to know someone over food or a cup of tea rather than over a computer anyway.

My Chinese studies have led me to develop a great love of Chinese films, especially those by Zhang Yimou, both old and recent. Also, any film starring Stephen Chow just makes me laugh like crazy, despite/because of their silliness.

I've just started learning classical guitar, so I mostly listen to Xuefei Yang and John Williams at the moment. I'm open to any guitarists who have any other suggestions.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Cycling the ancient Angkor road from Phnom Penh to Siam Reap. It was actually more of an oxcart track through the forest for the most part, with me trying to stay in the middle and avoid the landmines at either side. Exploring deserted temples in the forest and having to sleep at random villagers' homes made for a nice little adventure.
