About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Gain a broader perspective through travel; devote those experiences towards becoming a more just person and helping to craft a more just world!

ABOUT ME

I'm about to enroll in pursuit of a Master's degree from University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources! I'm excited about continuing research into climate policy and energy transitions.

I've had the wonderful chance to travel around the world a significant amount with my family and some in college, and I understand how coming into contact with new cultures and taking in the world's sights can be profoundly impactful. I'm hoping to do some more of that myself.

My interests, beyond travel, are cooking, music (I worked as a DJ at WXYC-Chapel Hill -- 89.3 FM if you're ever in the area), reading, being outside, and learning. I don't have very much experience with backpacking, but I'd like to get some.

I'm a relaxed and generally laid-back guy who is fairly flexible on a lot of things. I'm excited to meet some new people, so contact me and even if it's difficult, I'll see if I can make something work.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone's experience is valid, and we broaden our own perspectives by communicating with others!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've used couchsurfing in the past through my friends' accounts, both travelling in Ireland and hosting in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I'll be travelling a little in Northern California this summer and hope to meet some people along the way!

Music, Movies, and Books

I always find it difficult to list these off the top of my head. Ask me in person?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once climbed to a peak in the Great Wall, where it started raining, making the steps very slick. To get down, we slid down the Great Wall's railings. I'll definitely remember that forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

Academic: A good amount of environmental academic experience, from enviromental modeling to the science that supports climate change.
Computers: A pretty wide understanding of a variety of topics, from operating systems to WWW programming. Not too in-depth anywhere.
Music: Understand most music theory, as well as reading and playing most any instrument. More experience in American Old-Time music, though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, warmth, and some music, if there's a guitar around!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bolivia, China, Egypt, Germany, Ireland, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States
