About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have positive, healthy relationships with the people around me so that both of our best sides are brought out.

ABOUT ME

Well, I think it's kind of difficult to describe yourself (maybe just SLIGHTLY biased), but here it goes.
I guess in terms of introverted vs. extroverted, I'm definitely quieter around people I don't know, which is kind of strange because I really like meeting new people. It doesn't take long though for me to get going though. I would also describe myself as laid back (although again, I hang out with a lot of med students - not exactly a "neutral" comparison in that respect).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm now living in Grande Prairie, and hoping to return the favour others afforded me on my trip. Unfortunately my schedule's a little hectic, but drop me a line anyways - maybe it will work out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed from Basel, Switzerland up to Karlsruhe, Germany as I did a bike ride - it was a fantastic experience. I'm hoping to pay it back again at some point, although so far, I haven't really lived in any tourist-rich towns. Although, now, Grande Prairie definitely has its share of passers-through, so maybe I'll be able to host yet...

Interests

My interests include music - I love listening, singing (mainly a shower-singer) and playing music. I play piano and french horn, and I'm working (painfully slowly) towards proficiency on the guitar.
I also am very interested in languages. I hope to be able to include some more in my profile soon (Greek, Arabic, Hindi, among others) - once I have time and opportunity to practice (we'll see how that goes). Also like to work on the ones I've started.
In terms of fitness, I try to stay active. I enjoy snowboarding, swimming, X-counry skiing, and hockey (in a VERY amateur way), but when I can't do any of those, I put up with running.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done to date was the medical trek through northern India. I spent three awesome weeks with an amazing group of about 30 med/dent students where we hiked through the Zanksar Valley in Ladakh (J&K). We stopped in several villages that are miles away from any road access to give them check-ups and medical advice (or basic treatment). I don't think that I personally contributed greatly (esp. as a rookie med student) to the health of the people that we visited, but the amount I learned from them was immense. My current plan is to serve with MSF (Medicines Sans Frontiers - Doctors Without Borders) where I hope to make a greater difference.
