About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out where my life is leading

ABOUT ME

I guess right now I'm trying to figure out where my life is leading. There seems to be a common theme in everything I've done in life so far, working with people in some fashion. I love doing work that involves serving people. Whether I'm fixing somebody's computer problem, checking somebody in at the front desk of a hostel, or ringing someone's order for roast chicken into a cash register, they are all equally satisfying work.

Yet I'm still not sure where my final destination is going to be.

I was born in Detroit Michigan, but moved to Windsor Ontario Canada before I was one year old. I spent all of my childhood and high school years living in Windsor. After high school I attended a small liberal arts college in Michigan and received my bachelor degree in communication.

Ever since I was a child I have had a desire to travel and explore the world around me. During high school I jumped at the opportunity to participate in nearly every school facilitated trip, and got to see Washington DC, New York City and Western Canada.

While I was in college I participated in several service learning trips. My first trip I visited rural Appalachia and participated in home rehabilitation with a small group during spring break. The next year I visited post-Katrina, Chalmette, Louisiana with an entire bus of students from my college. We emptied household contents of abandoned homes for disposal. On my third journey I traveled with a smaller group of students and we worked on projects concerning urban poverty in Charlotte North Carolina.

One summer during college I got my first taste of living in the Southwest. I worked at a conference center in a small town in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. It was a fun summer and influence for my return to the Southwest years later.

After I graduated from college I had a yearning to leave Michigan and live somewhere different. I happened to see an advertisement for an internship program offered at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. I jumped at the chance and ended up spending nearly 2 years working for Disney. The next adventure occurred in Santa Fe New Mexico. I spent nearly a year living and working at an international hostel in Santa Fe New Mexico. It was a fun experience.

After Santa Fe, I moved back to Michigan for a few months and spent some time doing independent computer consulting. I enjoy teaching people about computers and helping them solve computer problems.

Most Recently I spent 5 months working in a Kitchen at a conference center in California. Immediately following that I spent nearly a year working for a Non Profit in North Carolina.

Currently I’m back in Florida working for Disney World again. I’m trying to save up enough money to travel to the United Kingdom. Since I am a also a Canadian Citizen, I will be able to get a youth mobility scheme working visa. To this day I have never traveled abroad, but I hope to change that in the coming years. Any advice, stories, ideas on what countries I should visit and why is highly appreciated.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be accepting of all. I try to be humble in living my life. I have a passion for service in any form; doing good for others makes community stronger.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still kinda new to this site, but I hope to meet some interesting people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to couchsurfing events. I worked at the Santa Fe Hostel and I met a lot of couch surfers who couldn't find a host. I've also surfed once. I move around a lot and often don't have a couch to offer, but I always like to explore the city I happen to be living in with people passing though. Someday when I have a more permanent residence, I will offer my couch!

Interests

music, technology, going to new places, watching movies (but I really don't watch much TV), sleeping, travel, god, faith, life, meeting new people, having a good time anything new and interesting, singing, photography, audio-books, deep conversations--and truly connecting with someone, listening to others, swimming laps in the pool when I have time, making others smile, helping others, lying down face up looking at the stars in the middle of nowhere, feeling accomplished, learning something new, facebook, partying can be fun but I don't see the point in partying every single day-There is much more to life then partying, Apple Computers, PC computers, Any Technology, cooking

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all Music! Music makes the world a better place!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I work at Disney World in Orlando Fl. It's definitely not a career, but it was a fun job until I figure out what's next.

Teach, Learn, Share

I worked at Disney World. Ask me questions and I might know the answers.

I also lived in Santa Fe for almost a year, so I can answer questions about Santa Fe too.

Lastly, anyone that is having computer problems, I can fix them! I've always loved tinkering technology with and fixing computer problems. My friends tell me I'm especially good at teaching people how to use their computer and troubleshooting problems. I've had people who are close to 27 and 67 tell me that I'm different than the typical computer geek. My different style is intentional. I listen and try to understand your entire computer problem before I try to teach or fix something.
