I’m Thad, and I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington state. When I was 18, I moved to Washington DC for college and ended up staying there for nine years before moving back to Seattle. I attended Gallaudet University and graduated with a degree in psychology and a minor in theatre. I’m considering graduate school but am enjoying my break from studying. I work as a teacher aide with Deaf kids. I love food, local beer, travel, and meeting new people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on CS to meet more people and get a taste of their way of life instead of shelling out a lot of money for a room that’s supposed to cater to my “American sensibilities.” Show me how you live so I can see the similarities and differences in our lifestyles.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a good story! Favorite authors include Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Hunter S Thompson, Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Franz Kafka, Isabel Allende, Isaac Asimov, and Tom Stoppard. I’m always open to new recommendations and suggestions. My taste in movies is not up to date with the latest though, but I’m always down to watch the Big Lebowski.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve gone skydiving and lived on a sailboat for about two years (not at the same time though...)

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m fluent in American Sign Language and can teach you! It’s easy! I love to cook and try new foods (spicy? Bring it on!) I love learning new phrases in languages I don’t know and learning what’s important and valued by different people.
