About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I try to do one new thing everyday.

ABOUT ME

I like to surf and play volleyball and generally be by the beach. I am finishing a Fellowship at Harvard and attending Medical School in Miami starting in August 2012.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I traveled a lot for a season in Europe in 2009 and a bit in the States since then.

I'm always happy to meet someone new and grab a coffee or beer in town.

I may be able to host if my roommate is out of town and I am in town (doesn't happen often as we both travel a bit for work etc.)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One stay in Zurich, Switzerland with a fantastic mate from around the area who just returned from a year in Bolivia- Pius Kauffmann.
Two stays in Amsterdam with a laid back Dutch guy just outside the city and an actress near Funenpark whom I met in a cafe. Fun time with a lot of bike riding/exploring.
One stay in Dublin with a fun group including Annia and Tales who took my friend and I all around town and stayed out all night with us before we both went traveling again.
Several other stays including England, Alaska and Germany.

Interests

My favorite sports include snowboarding, surfing, basketball, swimming, and most of all, volleyball. I love to hike and climb as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch a lot of movies of every genre: from comedies like 50/50 and Monty Python and the Holy Grail to documentaries like The North Face and Wasteland.

Music interest is just as eclectic: everything from Beatles Beach Boys and Credence Clearwater Revival to Mofro, John Butler Trio and Donovan Frankenreiter.

I enjoy adventure books, both fictional and Non (i.e. Lord of The Rings, Ender's Game).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two experiences that truly humbled me:
1. Surfing hurricane conditions in El Salvador. By surfing I mean paddling for my life.
2. When in Rome, I was the only regular citizen in St. Peter's Basilica for about 5 minutes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach any of the sports I mentioned and would think it impossible to stay with someone new and not learn from them. However, I am most interested in learning piano, guitar or harmonica.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, France, Germany, Haiti, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Switzerland, United States
