HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have gotten the privilege of experiencing both sides of the spectrum, surfing and hosting. And I enjoy both thoroughly, but my favorite experience to date has definitely been hosting a CSer from Belarus, getting to incorporate him into my life and showing him around NYC.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far CS has provided me:

Introduction to some awesome surfers whom I have had the privilege of hosting and showing around my home and NYC.

The opportunity to travel and actually experience the culture. Surfing the couches of incredible people who know their country.

An avenue to meet several great people to practice Spanish with while I was studying abroad in Chile.

The unique opportunity to befriend like-minded people all over the world.

Done: Dam fishing with Akha hill-tribe people on my birthday (manually damming a stream and catching the stranded fish on the now-dry stream bed).

Heard: a blind children's choir, at an orphanage in Burma.

Seen: Torres del Paine, Chile & Giant's Causeway, Ireland

Smelled: Fish markets in Thailand

Felt: Weightlessness of the Dead Sea

Tasted: Khao Niaow, Som Tam (Thai Sticky Rice and Papaya Salad)
