Overview
About Me
I'm a 60-something Californian who moved to Canada in the 1980's following my heart (a handsome Canadian man). After a varied career working in community with a wide range of people/ethnicities, I'm embarking on the next stage of my life - traveling around the world and making a million new friends. I have 2 world traveling sons who I adore. I'm sociable, enthusiastic and positive. My life story will make a wonderful book and an amazing movie - I haven't decided who will play me yet.
I LOVELOVELOVE to hike, anytime anywhere. And run. And bike (mountain/road). And dance. And cook/eat. And garden (nothing better than having my hands in the soil). And laugh.
NOTE: I don't live in Victoria, but 1 hour north.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
According to my sons (who have both used this resource in their travels), it will allow me to meet many people who I would miss out on if I chose the more conventional route. I've never been drawn to the touristy venues, but have relished in connecting with the local people in the places I've traveled. Being in a family home is my forte. I was recently in Bali and was 'adopted' by two Balinese families - now I have family there. My intention is to expand my 'family'!
I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to host a wide variety of travelers this summer & have met some amazing new friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a 6-day solo backpacking trip for my 60th birthday. I made it up to Emigrant Pass (11,000') on the John Muir Trail in central California. I loved every minute of it. ( I've actually done LOTS of amazing things!)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach many things: cooking, simple gardening, simple sewing, English, child development, emotional management, lots! I can also share my Vancouver Island home!
I love to learn about the cultures I'm traveling in. And to speak Spanish, too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my loving personality! I'm a low maintenance, highly motivated, kind woman. I'm open to trying just about anything, and will always jump in to help whenever I can. My energy level is high, my spirituality is grounded and I can handle whatever comes my way.
