About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find a mission.
ABOUT ME
Well, not sure if this is ALL about me but here's a little bit off the top of my head. I'm a 27 yrold guy, I live in Brisbane and I'm an Australian citizen (although I should really be a citizen of Vanuatu..). I love music, predominantly the heavier genres, but realistically I like a lot of tunes from many genres. If it's good, I'll listen to it. I've done a few things with my time here which have given me a pretty good grounding and broad range of experience. I've been a baker, a check-out guy, worked in a fruit shop, been a road worker, photographer, as well as a cook, plasterer, builder, built and managed a music rehearsal studio, and now i'm an office worker :\ I'd like to develop my photography some more and restart my band. I like a drink (bourbon please), or two. I like to cook (weird for a bloke I hear?), and would love to learn to cook some more dishes while travelling. I'll give anything a go once (please don't hold it against me).
PHILOSOPHY
Fear is the mind killer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm not much of a hoster sorry guys, I live in a share house so it doesn't always work for me to host people over night (I will on the odd occassion make an exception, probably more likely if I have met you already).
However, I do throw on the odd bbq at my house, beers over the cricket, going camping and 4wding. I generally post these kind of things on the Brisbane (QLD, Australia) group. But feel free to message me and see what's going on.
Cheers,
Al
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
An awesome bloke named John Powley (formerly of Osaka, Japan) kind of inspired me by being such a cool host on my first couch surfing experience to try and be a bit more open and generous, and I haven't had a bad couchsurfing experience yet.
Interests
Going to a good concert/music, playing bass and a little tiny bit of guitar, fishing, camping, four wheel driving, been getting into kayaking a bit recently, I like most things out doors. I also dig photography, I'm interested in mechanics out of necessity (yes I drive old cars), I have a crack at drawing and painting but I suck at it. oh, and I don't dance...

Music, Movies, and Books
Bands I dig include - Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Scissorfight, cypress hill, slayer, job for a cowboy, the red chord, parkway drive, american head charge, tom waits, jimi hendrix, white zombie, black sabbath, black label society, carcass, devil driver, carpathian, strapping young lad, fu manchu, kyuss, nirvana, pantera, hank williams III, lamb of god... the list could go on for pages.
Movies; I'm a big fan or horror movies and art house. Yeh, I'll admit it, I like star wars too. I guess the biggest genre of film I'd watch would be documentary though, I love learning new things and seeing beautiful new places.
books; sadly i've been a bit slack with my book reading recently.
I recently got put on to a book called `Mad Cowboy` by Howard Lyman. It probably wouldn't hurt you to read it if you get the chance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing a baby whale shark up close was pretty cool, even if it was at the aquarium and the philosophical and potential ethical issues related.
Just about everything I saw in japan was amazing! The ferry leaving Niigata for the over-nighter to Hakodate and trying to communicate with a phone translater dictionary and 2 bottles of Suntory whisky with a Japanese truck driver sticks in my mind. The looks people give a naked tattooed gaijin at the onset was an interesting experience too.
Everytime I'm lucky enough to go beach camping and you get to see the sun come up over the ocean. No buildings, no traffic, no worries!
