About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet some cool new people

ABOUT ME

I'm the kind of guy that will decide to drive an hour and a half at 2:30 in the morning just to grab a bite with friends at Denny's. I like to go on random adventures, and I love to help those who do as well. I love introducing people to things they've never experienced. I'm interested in East-Asian cultures I really want to travel there someday -- especially to Taiwan.

PHILOSOPHY

I seize every opportunity that I can. I don't like letting things pass me by. I'm considerate to a fault. I don't like the feeling of being mistreated and I dislike the feeling of mistreating others worse. I love getting to know people from faraway lands, and I really hope CS gives me more opportunities to do that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to have a couch to surf when I lived in FL. Now that I've moved to NY and I lack furniture, I'm going to have to confine myself to just surfing rather than hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I once stayed on a coworker's couch for 2 months while I worked out my employment arrangement (I was a lowly intern at the time) and a place to stay. I was hugely grateful for it, and I had a fun time. I surf friend's couches quite often when I've partied too much to go home, or when I'm visiting faraway places. I haven't surfed too many "unknown" couches, but I'd love to change that - especially if I've got a welcoming host!

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch a ton of movies. I'm not sure I have any favorites, so here are some recent (seen in the past week) ones I liked. Dan in Real Life, The Departed, Gone Baby Gone, Third Wheel.

As far as books go, I don't read as often as I'd like to. I'm currently chipping away at The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana by Umberto Eco. I recently read (and loved) Dreaming in Code by Scott Rosenberg.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped out one weekend for all 12 months of the year in the Adirondacks -- it's cold up there!

In college I went on frequent road trips, and I'd like to start going again when I get some vacation time. I've driven from FL to NY more than 15 times, and every time the sights are more interesting/beautiful. Fancy Gap at sunrise is amazing!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I loved taking people to see some of Florida's natural wonders. It always disappoints me when people come down for the theme parks -- they waste so much money visiting attractions that are incredibly fake. One of my favorite places to take people is to the springs in the Ocala National Forest. They are in the middle of the state and teeming with amazing wildlife. The visibility is amazing for snorkeling/SCUBA as well.

Now that I'm in Northern NY, I need to find some cool new places with similar awe-factor. I live somewhat near the Adirondacks, so chances are that's where we'd head.

I'm not a bad cook, so if you desire a home cooked meal, I don't mind at all.
