About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Put my heart and soul into my Work, grind the mirror for the telescope and see the stars come alive through our handiwork. Learn the Calculus and write the specs, learn the Chemistry and explain the effects. Allow for the twinkling waters of art to make brilliant the science I was raised to consider dull.
ABOUT ME
I'm currently looking for a job and a place to stay in Burlington/Middlebury. I have worked as a barista before, and I'm a certified yoga instructor. I'd love to teach a dance-hatha yoga-body awareness class, but I'd also be fine peeling potatoes.
I've lived in an anarchist collective, taught German to refugees in Hamburg, found meaning in movement and tried to move meaningfully.
I just finished an internship at the Leo Baeck Institut, which is an archive for German-Jewish history.
I recently graduated from Oberlin college.
I have practiced many kinds of dance for several years.
I play guitar, and will sing if you do too :-)
I lived in a co-op, which is an interesting experiment in simple socialism. It was a bit cleaner than the anarchist collective, but there was less love. I'm not an anarchist fyi, probably some sort of feminist if you really got me down to brass tacks, definitely seeking alternatives to capitalism and patriarchy, but maybe Daoist would capture it...don't you just hate labels? If you're interested in real life practices of communes I can speak somewhat about my experiences with them.
I don't criticize other people for their politically incorrect word-choice, but try to sense what's behind their words. The only thing that gets my goat more than people harping on other peoples' word-choice is when I hear someone use "modern" to mean "contemporary", If the words continue to be convoluted, then we can never speak of "Modern Art" in the past-tense, nor of Modernity in general (Although I have some variables for comparison). Regardless of how synonymous the dictionary makes them seem, the most irksome aspect of this confusion is that I agree with it: we are not post-modern, we are still in the same rut that Dostoyevsky, Woolf, Picasso, Hemmingway, De Kooning, Sartre, and John Stewart were responding to! I guess I just project my dissatisfaction on this minutia.
I am a writer and spend a lot of time writing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Kant, Schopenhauer, Walter Benjamin, Marx, Goethe, D.H. Lawrence, Rilke, Kafka, C. G. Jung, Freud, Mount Analog by René Daumal...I miss my books :-(
Movies: Barry Lyndon (and most of Kubrick's later films), The Trial by Orson Wells, A Late Quartet, The Master, Birdman, La Belle et La Bête.
Music: God how tastes change...I just deleted all my old mentions, but I still got the funk despite all these seriously old man inclinations I'm about to list: Mozart, Schubert, Bach (Goldberg Variations and Cello Suites), Seu Jorge, Jorge Ben, Capoeira music, the soundtrack to Waking Life, Ariel Ramirez' Misa Criolla.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked up a volcano in a hailstorm, saw lightning strike a cliff right next to me, ran down the volcano in 20 minutes, passing 4 tour groups. It said amazing, not intelligent.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Capoeira Angola, Yoga (certified), Blues partner dancing, basics of Swing, Tango and Salsa, German, accented English, overcoming picky eating.
I can learn anything I want to, and so can you.
I can share anything you need, and should if you really need it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I currently have 6 Horseradish Dill Pickles from New York City's classic Lower East side sitting in a container of brine WAITING FOR YOU! First come, first served.
