Overview
About Me
I love talking about books, making up goofy songs, making dad jokes, tea, and my cat Ella.
Failing, but slowly improving minimalist.
Vegan-ish with a weakness for soft stinky cheese.
I currently have quite a busy schedule, so I won't be able to show you around much - but I am happy to catch up in the mornings and evenings and to provide a comfortable place for take a rest.
I am currently living in Northern California with my wonderful partner, Ben: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/974980/profile.
If you want to stay with me, put the word "broccoli" in your message and I will know that I am not getting a generic request :). You get extra credit for using Ben's word too!
We don't smoke, and generally don't drink much at home.
Also, we are trying to conserve water, so let us know if you are ok sleeping on sheets that have been used once before.
We are a queer/ trans friendly household!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Sufjan Stevens, Bjork, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Garth Stevens, Sigur Ros, Olafur Arnolds, Schubert, Gillian Welsh. (Also most Seattle-based indie music from the 2010s will take me right back to that good nostalgia place.)
Books:
Right now, NK Jemison is everything. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/38526323-m23
Movies:
Departures, Hanami, August Rush, William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe, Amelie, I <3 Huckabees, Tanpopo.
TV Shows:
Tokyo Diner: Mindnight Stories. I barely watch TV, but this show was the most delicious and beautifully wholesome balm to 2020
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was temporarily a nun in a Burmese monastery.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I'm happy to give introductory voice, or musicianship lessons for guests or hosts- just let me know before hand and I'll make time for it.
Other things I can teach: organic gardening, drought tolerant landscaping, vegetarian cooking, basic yoga, basic guitar, basic piano, music theory, any of the languages I sort of know, origami cranes.
Learn: languages, vegetarian cooking, songs, dances, views of life, guitar skills, ukulele, silly jokes, new ways to enjoy life.
Share: I tend to know/ eat a lot of strange vegetarian foods, darning clothing, my accumulated library of music and books.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Anything listed above ^
I also love weeding, cooking, brewing tea, and doing other people's dishes (I'm a bit reluctant to do my own, but I am working hard to make it a daily practice).
