Overview
About Me
Thayane, but Thay is better. :) I’m a brazilian girl who yep, loves carnival and samba. I’m an International Relations student and you’ll often find me talking about politics specially after some beers. I’m studying in Czech Republic and discovering something new about myself everyday in this crazy different experience! I’m a bit shy in the beginning but I’m always talkative. I may be a little bit “loud” sometimes depending on the context because of my cultural background, but it usually means that I’m really excited about something. I’m that kind of person that gets dazzled easily about everything, even minor details. I’m also a vegetarian since 2017 but it’s totally fine if you’re not, of course. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m in couchsurfing because I usually travel alone and to meet new people and having different experiences, getting to know different points of view and contexts is a major goal. I’m doing it mostly because I’m in Europe right now and it’s easier to travel around, but I would love to keep on doing it when I go back home if it’s possible!
Interests
I’m happier when I have a camera in my hands. I sold mine to come to Czech Republic, but I’m still 100% passionated about
photography. I’m really into cinema, although this year I simply neglected it because of the exchange :( And really, I can spend hours and hours talking about politics, specially if it’s about Brazil or Central Europe, which is the main focus of my studies. Yep, I love to study what I love (who doesn’t?). I also love to dance (a lot) even if I’m not exactly great at it, I love to sing and I’m a terrible singer hahahah but I reaaally enjoy sitting down and having a beer or wine and talking all night long! These are my main interests, I guess.

Music, Movies, and Books
Cinema is kind of a passion, I love to talk about it but specially to learn about it, so tell me everything you know! Wes Anderson is an inspiration, Stanley Kubrick is a favorite. I used to read a lot but now I only read university stuff and sad news about my country’s president. In a great effort of trying to overcome the fact that now I have a racist, homophobic and torture praiser president, I’m trying to focus more my attention on diverse literatures. I enjoy dystopias, science-fiction but also dramas of the daily life. I’m not a love-romance kind of person in literature. Some of my favorite books of all times are “Oracle Night”, “Blindness”, “1984” and “Toda terça” <3 My preference in music is some kind of alternative/indie rock like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Cage the Elephant or Brazilian music (which I would be happy to show you) such as Caetano Veloso, Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento… there’s actually so much, I enjoy basically everything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being able to come to Czech Republic to study after everything I’ve been through. I’m really proud of it 😊
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m loving to share my culture with my friends from this side of the world! And I’m 100% sure that I’ve never learned as much as I’m doing now. Since I’m passionated about Brazil and all the diversity we have in everything, I’m always willing to talk more about it, as well as learning in the same extent about other cultures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my food and my alcohol but also my gratitude and kindness <3 culture, experiences and new random knowledge are also welcomed.
