About Me
I'm a software developer, classical singer, LGBT + church activist, and lover of public transportation. I'm originally from Orlando, FL, went to school at Northwestern University in Chicagoland, and now live in Seattle. I work for a software startup called usermind and live in Capitol Hill with my fiancé, Todd and our dog, Cowboy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Todd and I travel a good bit and enjoy couchsurfing some of the time that we travel. We have stayed with folks in Paris, Rotterdam, Dublin, and Honolulu.
Since we've had such a good experience Couchsurfing ourselves, we enjoy hosting now that we're in Seattle. You're welcome to just stay at our place and wander the city on your own during the day (we can recommend what to see, of course), or if you catch us at a good time we may be able to show you around. We'll also invite you to join us with any usual social gatherings we having going on but won't be offended if you opt out.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One of our best couch surfing experiences so far was in Rotterdam with a couple there, Daniel and Oliver. We had an open request in Amsterdam and they invited us to spend the weekend with them in Rotterdam. They fed us, served us Spanish red wine, rented us bikes, and gave us a bike tour of the city. It was a highlight of our entire Europe trip that summer!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the coolest things I've experienced while traveling was when Todd and I accidentally wandered into the only male brothel in Amsterdam, thinking it was just a gay bar.
We quickly discovered our mistake and the bartender and boys at the bar quickly realized we weren't going to be hiring any of the boys to go up to the rooms. We decided to go ahead and get a drink and wound up staying for a few hours, talking to the bartender and the sex workers about their experiences working there. It was a really unique and unusual opportunity to ask frank questions of prostitutes and have them honestly discuss their experiences. One of the guys even bought us a round of drinks - I don't think that's your typical brothel experience!
