About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out and bond with kindred spirits.

ABOUT ME

Anti-social, yet interested in social gatherings on occasion. Nerd who loves to work out. I frown upon the institution of marriage but am married regardless. Capable of despair over the human condition, but will readily spend hours at a time wasting my relatively broad personal freedom watching TV shows. Standard dichotomy garbage.

PHILOSOPHY

I'll take getting older over the alternative! I love the people around me, my husband most of all, and that is what keeps me in good spirits about being a mostly unenlightened sack of flesh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the CS world, and I joined because I love the sense of community and the welcoming nature of its members. I look forward to meeting others in my area and anticipate my first surfer and first surfing experience!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some members of the Chicago CS community, whom I was introduced to by my friend/surfer Peter, with whom I shared participation in an REU program in the city.

Interests

Books, particularly fantasy & sci-fi to a lesser degree. I watch a lot of TV in the same genre. I like beer, especially microbrews. Wine, too. Oh, and mountain biking! Also, step aerobics and science!

Music, Movies, and Books

Better to list what I absolutely don't like: gimmicky romance novels, romantic comedy films...I think that's it. I'm open to everything else. Actually the romance novels are pretty enjoyable if read ironically.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've played on a piano donated by Billy Joel after he played a concert in the Tampa area!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have about a decade of piano lessons, including some music theory, under my belt. I'm no savant, but I can definitely teach beginners. I'll take anyone interested out to ride a mountain bike. I love learning just about anything, but I particularly would like to learn conversational skills in any language.
