About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to its fullest and to simply be happy

ABOUT ME

Travel is the biggest parts of who I am and I'm fortunate to have made a living working in the Travel Industry; I own a Travel Agency and am a Property Manager for 5 properties throughout Omaha. I also do a lot of volunteer work; being the CouchSurfing Moderator of Nebraska, founder of the Travel and Culture Group, and this year was nominated as Volunteer of the Year for Hostelling International. The highlight was being given the Presidential Service Award through Barak Obama :) Love giving back to my community and helping people fulfill their dreams of traveling the world!

In addition, I'm either just getting back from a trip or I'm already planning the next one (or two). People are always telling me that I'm a very happy, energetic, spontaneous person. What I can tell you is that I try to be a very open-minded individual, pretty adventurous (which can be good and bad lol), active and always up for anything. My only addiction is people, adventure, and travel.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a strong believer in Karma and of simply living a happy life. Hakuna Matata :)

My secret is that my first instinct is to say 'Yes' to anything instead of 'No'. I believe in finding ways to make things happen instead of finding excuses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always been very involved in CouchSurfing, a go-to person, an all-around tour guide, and it's always kept me very busy. I have so much fun showing travelers around my town & I love going to old and new places with them. CouchSurfing has helped me not only travel, but its helped me meet people who also travel, either in their city or my own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a Pioneer of CouchSurfing, having been an active member for 10+ years now. My first surfing was Okinawa, Japan and my life changed from that moment on. Travel, to me, is about experiencing the culture of every country- the food, the locals, the scenery, and everything in between. I love to experience a place and just jump right in. The doors and gateways that CouchSurfing has opened to the world is astonishing.

Interests

My addictions happen to be some of my interests as well- music, people, photography, and travel

One of my main interests is different cultures. I also like to go out with a group of people and having a good time dancing, talking, and laughing. Meeting new people from all over the world while sitting together in one place is amazing. My other major interests are photography, skateboarding (of which I am terrible at), dancing (also not the best at), and random adventures (this one I'm good at).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and movies, but mostly music. I'm constantly listening to music. I really enjoy going to clubs and dancing the night away to almost any kind of music.

I'm also an avid reader, growing up without a TV and having a full library nearby. I enjoy movies but my TV is in the storage unit (waaay too busy to sit down and watch TV shows) so I'm fining myself falling behind on most movies and shows.

Books - everything Chuck Palahniuk. Addicted to his books. Love travel memoirs. Every other kind of memoir. Randy Pausch. George RR Martin. Etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Its impossible for me to pick just one amazing thing. I've seen gorgeous Buddhist temples in Korea, Palaces in Japan, phenomenal beaches in Guam. Played dominoes with locals in Cuba. Alaska I explored the wilderness of Kodiak and have been stalked by a barracuda in Barbados. Swam with piranhas in the Amazon. Climbed Mayan pyramids and rappelled 1500 ft down into a cave in Mexico. Jumped off waterfalls. Bungee jumping in Costa Rica and swam with a whale shark in Honduras, made friends with wild sea lions in the Sea of Cortez, and everything else in between. I fully appreciate everything I've been able to do with my life and I feel fortunate to have made it a priority to make these things happen and more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really want to experience different cultures and to appreciate them for what they are and their differences, both good and bad. I don't just want a place to sleep at night. I enjoy someone who can talk to me & teach me about their way of life and to swap stories.
