Exploring & figuring it out as we go
ABOUT ME
We're Rachel and Andy, an Anglo-American couple now living in Cambridgeshire, England. Andy's originally from Cumbria, Rachel from Pittsburgh PA (hence the towel in the photo). We met in Scotland, so we both have some travelling under our belts and are looking forward to much more.
PHILOSOPHY
Trying to make the most of the time on this earth and what the world has to offer, one day at a time. Some days I'm more successful at this than others, but there is always at least one moment in each day to be grateful at having experienced.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've surfed on a number of couches in New Zealand and Australia and really enjoyed it. We've now settled in Cambridgeshire and had some great surfers stay with us.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All our CouchSurfing experiences have been positive so far.
Interests
In 2012 we quit our jobs to go travelling, spending 2 months in New Zealand and 1 month in Australia, with a bit of time in Thailand and Hong Kong. We met loads of great interesting people and experienced wonderful Kiwi and Aussie hospitality first hand.
I love travelling and travel planning; as we're not moving around these days, it's most often trips around the UK to visit friends and family, but we do try to explore new places when we can. Closer to home I enjoy baking, reading, the occasional Netflix binge and learning about new places and people. Have a fondness for good food and single malt whisky.

Music, Movies, and Books
Rachel's favorites: Casablanca, Strictly Ballroom, Sean of the Dead (movies); lots of different types of music - pop, rock, alt country, classical, jazz, blues; Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel, but I love reading good books, whatever the genre.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completed New Zealand's Tongariro Alpine Crossing in Feb 2012. It was a bit of a challenge, but the scenery was otherworldly and utterly amazing. Milford Sound was also overwhelmingly beautiful.
Teach, Learn, Share
