Overview
About Me
I'm an a painter from Chicago who's currently based out of Belgrade, Serbia. I usually work on illustrations or murals, but also do some printmaking and carpentry (keeps me from getting bored). Lately, I only travel when I'm going somewhere to paint/for a project, but I'm still looking to meet new people, see new things, and let my mind grow in the process.
I’m not currently accepting guests as I’m living out of my art studio and there’s not really space/a place for anyone else to sleep.
You can check out whatever I'm working on and some of my sketches at www.instagram.com/anthonybrooksart
I love traveling and experiencing new places. I'm super outdoorsy and extremely active. Don't really care too much about sports, but will give just about anything a shot. Also, I'm always down for a few drinks and some good conversation!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm traveling in order to talk to and experience as many people as I can while at the same time finding myself, in a sense. I'm open minded and want to learn about/understand as many cultures as I can. Couchsurfing seems like a good place as many others on here have very similar reasons and outlooks.
Interests
Drawing & painting, photography, traveling by whatever means possible, building things, broadening my mind. As they say, the more you know ♪
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed a mountain barefoot after falling into a river. Superb toe traction lol
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not the best teacher, but I can attempt to teach you to draw/paint and maybe even fix your car/bike/travelling machine of some sort. (I'm pretty freaking good mechanically)
Would love to learn to cook new things
Don't know how to surf or ski/snowboard, but would love to learn both.
I used to speak more French and German, but they're a bit rusty since I've been focusing more on learning Turkish the past few years. That said, I'm open to learning any language out there!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to think I'm a pretty good cook, though I can't really teach any recipes as I usually just make things up depending on whatever is in my kitchen... It mostly turns out well so why follow recipes? and I'm good for some conversation. I'm also pretty mechanically inclined so if something's broken, chances are I can fix it.
