About Me

Welcome! I am a social, easy-going American scientist finishing up my PhD in the United States. I drink a lot of coffee and my eastern European friends tell me I smile too much but they kind of like it.

Once I finish my PhD, I plan to become a professor. I spend a lot of time thinking and talking about politics, economics, psychology, and statistics for my job, and I am happy to talk about those things (including Trump) with you! During my free time, I love to cook (especially east-Asian food), go to music and dance shows, and play water polo. I enjoy exploring the tastes, smells, and sights of new places and have been delighted to make lasting friendships while traveling across the world. I've now traveled to 40+ countries and lived in 10 cities and 2 countries.

I don't typically use Couchsurfing to find places to stay, but instead to find people who are interested in meeting up for a meal, drinks, or adventuring during the day/night. I'm equally happy to go for a walk in a park, hang out and drink wine, or go to a friend's party - Couchsurfing is a somewhat unique experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet people and explore new places in settings where it might otherwise be difficult. As I become older and have more responsibilities, my trips become shorter and more valuable to me. Since my trips are shorter, Couchsurfing provides an easy way to meet new people and have experiences I wouldn't otherwise during my travels. Unfortunately, my current flatmates feel uncomfortable letting strangers stay at our apartment but I will be hosting once I complete my studies.

Currently, I am planning a trip to Ukraine with a friend (male) who also lived in London and studied with me. We're in Ukraine only about a week before traveling to Moldova for our friend's wedding. I am interested in seeing if people want to meet up.
