ABOUT ME

I may strike you as a quiet, distanced person but after getting to know me you will find out that I'm actually very positive and open to new experiences and different points of view.
Although I seem rather serious there's still a little child inside of me, I enjoy a lot of silly things.

I have strong opinions on many topics so drawing me into a discussion might help to get to know me. It's the easiest way for me to open up as I am a little shy when meeting people for the very first time.

When I'm speaking to someone in English I get a bit nervous and often tend to lack words to express whatever that is I'm trying to say. Be prepared for a lot of silly describing when I try to use a word that I actually know but can't recall.

My profile isn't completely filled yet but I'm gonna try to write as much as I can about myself :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never hosted anyone so far and never crashed anyone's couch but I have met some surfers and really enjoyed their company every single time. I am open to meeting new people, it can't hurt to get to know someone new, learn something about their country and teach them a little about mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm very enthusiastic about movies and I watch a lot of them although lately I'm even more into tv series... My all time favourites are Fight Club, The Godfather, The Sting, The Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas or Pulp Fiction.If I was to give an example of a good Polish film I'd pick Dzień świra ("Day of a Wacko"), the very best in my personal ranking, but a foreigner might have big problems understanding what it's really about...The tv series I watch and love are Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Skins, Californication, Dexter or How I Met Your Mother. The older ones that I alywas liked are Friends, Monk and the X-Files.___________________________________Music is also important to me - right now I listen to a lot of different kinds of bands although a couple of years back I was into rock and metal only. Some of the performers I fancy the most would have to be Disturbed, Tool, Marilyn Manson, Aerosmith, Queen, (a Polish band) Kult or Tenacious D.I also like a number of Japanese rock bands, for example the X Japan, Flow, MUCC, Dir en Grey or Porno Graffiti.Plus, the late works of Johnny Cash and an occasional Randy Newman or Tom Waits. I enjoy movie soundtracks by Hans Zimmer or John Williams as well.I'm also fond of classical music and the sound of some instruments, like a violin, cello, saxophone or different kinds of drums (for example the traditional Japanese Taiko drums or just the simple drum kit used by all rock bands).___________________________________ I simply love reading books and also buying them - sometimes spending so much money, that I don't have anything left to buy food.I'm mostly info sci-fi and fantasy books but I'm not that big of a geek. Currently I'm simply fascinated by the works of George R.R. Martin. I also love everything written by Philip K. Dick, Harry Harrison and Robert A. Heinlein.The Polish fantasy writers I'd recommend are definitely Jacek Piekara and Andrzej Sapkowski (his 'Witcher' saga is truly brilliant, his style is so unique that it's probably not as good in other languages as it is in Polish - still, gotta read his books).When it comes to books about travelling, I'd recommend Marcin Bruczkowski - a Polish writer who spent a couple of years in Japan and in Singapore and now writes about those countries. Great insight, great sense of humour.My all-time favourite though would have to be The Godfather by Mario Puzo. I've read that novel numerous times and I like to get back to it every now and then. It just never gets old and is equally exciting, no matter how many times you read it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not the kind of a cooking master but I can definitely prepare something from the typical Polish cuisine for you. It might not turn out to be exactly the traditional rendition of those dishes but I feel confident it would be close enough ;)

It might be a little hard if you're vegetarian because Polish food is rather meaty but there always is some kind of solution.

Polish language is pretty hard to learn but if you're persistent I may be able to teach you some useful phrases and, of course, a couple of curse words :P
