About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Acquire information. digest. improve self. improve world. REPEAT

ABOUT ME

I'm studying abroad right now in Europe. When I am at home I program music on old computers and make art with electronics. For now, costs and shortages in materials have me now working with more traditional materials. I've been thinking about art in public spaces as a vehicle for protest and change. I'm trying to figure out what my place is in this equation right now because I feel like I have something to say, but I struggle with the right place and the right way to say it. I want to learn about other people to make life better for working people in my city when I go home

PHILOSOPHY

life is about the stories you can tell

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just starting with CS. I'm really interested in the role the internet plays in our lives. while I'm here, I'd like to meet and ideally spend some time with couchsurfers, learn as much as I can from them, have them show me their city, and answer any questions or help in any way I can. It's much easier and a lot less creepy than wandering the street of a new city saying "tell me about your world!"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

nothing yet through here! I've slept on busses, a night train from Florence (I think) to Paris. I once slept on the hardwood floor of a stranger who I helped move into a different apartment. I spent two nights in a hostel in NYC for a music festival (Blipfest '09) and one of the performers let me stay in his place an extra night for the after party (thank you so much Chris!) I've spent many nights on my friends' couch one time their kitten slept under my chin.

Interests

music, art, biking, traveling, good food, trains, gettin' shit done! I also like learning about cool stuff and taking things apart.

Music, Movies, and Books

Great movies: Cinema Paradiso, Tron.

Music I've listened to lately: ATR, the Clash, Tegan and Sara, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, 4Mat, Judas Priest, Steely Dan, Marvin Gaye, Johan Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, David freakin Bowie, EARLY Genesis. PFM PFM PFM!

I love books with diagrams...exploded diagrams, owners manuals...so hot. doesn't mean I need to understand them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to the Termini station one night to check out via dei Volsci. The graffitti is amazing. When I got to the street I was rushed by some drug dealers who thought I wanted to score so I politely refused and continued. after wandering I found this hole in the wall pub with an open mic. I met a Spanish girl and we fumbled our way through a strange english-spanish-italian blend and went to look at grafitti and talk about our studies. Somehow, the language barrier made it easier to talk to her. We've been good friends since.
One night I got robbed/fought off three fascist boys at Termini and we had a victory dinner 24 hours later to celebrate my survival! HAHAHA!

Teach, Learn, Share

most people overcook fish. use a little white wine in the pan to steam-cook it a little. it's done when the meat flakes off itself.

Learn: I love crafts, not arts and crafts, but the art of making something that does something that works. That's the best: when it's still amazing after someone explains how it works.

Share: Ask me about my country/city/stereotypes/problems/anything! I think it's important for people to understand what they're coming from

Countries I’ve Visited
