I'm a pilot and flight instructor by qualification and a total foodie by obsession! I currently live and work in Canada. I grew up and had formal education in India, Russia and the United States, experiencing a multitude of cultures and that inspired me to travel. I have traveled across the United States, Europe and Canada, and aim to travel across South-East Asia in the near future. I grew up a Navy Brat and enjoy socializing and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to the concept of CouchSurfing by my Paternal uncle & aunt, who has hosted many a guest and has surfed in Europe. I first CouchSurfed in 2010 in Bangalore, India and found it an absolutely remarkable way to explore new places and meet wonderful new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Generally tend to stay away from mainstream music of today, passionate classic rock and alternative fan. Metalhead! It really depends on what I'm in the mood for, I love exploring new bands and enjoy the live music scene. I've been to a few shows and festivals so far and have watched my favorite band Lamb of God perform Live, even got to shake hands with Chris Adler, was so surreal!

Movies: I enjoy everything from serious dramas to slapstick comedy. War movies excite me. I've watched every single movie starring Tom Hanks. I have a weakness, I binge watch multiple TV shows when I'm not working, very quickly running out of titles to explore!

Books: I’m not a big reader of novels, but I enjoy mythology and fiction, biographies, military history. I read a lot of current events and blogs online, I love reading about random historical facts and events, about people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've flown solo across the Rocky Mountains in a 4-seat single-engine piston aircraft, was an absolutely breathtaking experience, trekked up the Himalayas (non-technical climb), scuba dived in the Indian Ocean in the Andamans, fished in the Great Slave Lake in Northern Canada, experienced the Mardi Gras and French Quarter Festivals in New Orleans, watched the sunset from the Willis Tower in Chicago, hiked through the fjords in Norway, experienced snowfall in the Alps, drove from northern Ontario to the mountains of Alberta/B.C. just to name a few!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to fly (haha! That's what I do as a profession), how to make some fantastic Indian food, how to swim and how to travel very efficiently.

Learn: We're all here for new experiences, aren't we? I would rather hang out and socialize with locals and have fun rather than visit overcrowded touristy places. I love learning about the local traditions and customs at each place I visit. They say curiosity killed the cat, I guess I have nine lives!

Share: I love sharing food over a good conversation, showing people around and going out in new places to explore the food scene.
