About Me

CURRENT MISSION

have adventures

ABOUT ME

I like skiing, hiking, rowing, biking, camping, snorkeling, climbing, and other things that allow me to be outside. I just started diving, yet another expensive sport. I'm afraid of lobsters (and generally dislike arthropods). That said, things that should probably scare me, like snakes and mountain lions, are just fine by me. I'm at home in the city or the country, but am confused by suburbs. I'm originally from New York City, and have lived in Boston, rural New Hampshire, Barcelona, Aspen, Michigan, Dallas, and Wyoming.

PHILOSOPHY

Golden rule.

Interests

Outdoorsy things (see above), sports, travel, photography, cooking, stargazing, going to foreign countries and eating all the things. Except arthropods (see above).

Music, Movies, and Books

I have no taste in music. I basically like anything with words. Preferably words in a language I understand.

I don't like scary movies.

I just got a kindle. It has started to take over my life. Recommendations welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the southern cross, during a lunar eclipse, from semi-enclosed hot springs (the roof of the enclosure was torn off in an avalanche in the '20's) down a random dirt road over a bridge from the Las Lenas access road, about 3 hours south of Mendoza, Argentina

or

Heli skiing in Juneau, Alaska. Or perhaps, trying to focus on skiing while distracted by a view of glaciers, mountains, water, mountains, water, mountains, and more water.

or

While night snorkeling in Belize, during the new moon, turning off my flashlight and controlling glow worm glowing by waving my hands.

or

Accidentally falling out of my kayak in the bioluminescent bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico, and making glowing water angels with some awesome dinoflagellates.

or

visiting a hot spring waterfall in Tuscany at night, sitting in a perfect pool under the stars, with the whole normally-crowded place to ourselves!

I'm a ski instructor and a rowing coach. I can give you pointers, but I may explain things as if you're 5 (I rarely teach grownups)

I speak about 2.5 languages (if you add them all up)
