About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the USA, and learn more about my home before I continue my travels abroad.

ABOUT ME

I am from a very small town off of Long Island NY; Shelter Island, NY. It has a year round population of about 2,000 people, and that balloons to a summer population of 10,000 people. So you can say its a seasonal community. Some people might not start off telling you about who they are by telling you where they are from; for me however, I feel that my hometown has shaped me in more ways than I will ever know. People talk about being raised in a close-knit community, but Shelter Island is more like being raised by a town where nearly everyone is thought of as family. The experiences I have had there have made me the kind of person that I am today.

I find myself to be very opinionated and passionate. I have no problem talking about any issues or idea with nearly anyone, just know that you will not always be able to convince me to your line of thinking. It is important for all people to form their own ideas.

I love to travel, and so far I would say that it is the one addiction that I have in my life. Anytime I am not traveling I quickly find myself researching my next trip or adventure to some far away place, or perhaps an area near my home which I have yet to explore. You have the ability to learn so much more about yourself when you travel that you would not see otherwise.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life the way you want to, it is too short to worry about petty things. I try and ask myself almost everyday am I happy with what I am doing, often times the answer is yes, but if it is not, that means it's time to make a change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have hosted a little bit and definitely enjoyed that experience. Currently I am going cross-country from New York to just about everywhere west, so for the most part I try to surf in places I feel it will help me to get a better understanding of the area. Being hosted by people who are local to an area, really helps to accelerate your understanding of that place.

Surfed in:
Pittsburgh, PA
Cleveland, OH
Madison, WI
Minneapolis, MN
Rapid City, SD

Seattle, WA

Hermosa Beach, CA

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted a few people at my home on the East End of Long Island. Hosting people makes it feel as though you're travelling, because you have met great new people, even though you are still at home.

Been having a wonderful time being hosted by numerous people while on my cross-country road trip which will go from July 2011 to March/April 2012

As an overall couchsurfing experience, I have absolutely no complaints. All of my hosts have been courteous as well as knowledgeable on their local area; it is exactly what you want from a host. CS is a great movement, and it is always nice to know that if you are being hosted that you are going to be staying with someone who shares at least some of your own ideals.
