About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To teach in Korea and dodge around a bit.
ABOUT ME
I'm very new to travel outside the US. In fact this is my first time ever really going anywhere. It's nice. I'm into it. I plan on being here (Jeju) for awhile and then just sort of going wherever. I can't call it.
I'm pretty open minded and I like new things. I like old things too. Art, sounds, movies, people, places. It's all good. To say I know much aout any of these things would be ridiculous. I don't know anything much about anything at all. But, I like to do things and I like to learn and I like to listen and talk too, if I feel I can hang in the conversation without embarassing myself.
I have no interesting political theroies or wonderful beliefs or anything like that. I like Carl Sagan, baby ducks, and daydreaming. I like to be outdoors, but have only been camping once in my life. And I sucked at it. But would like to get better. Like in most things I guess.
PHILOSOPHY
Sometimes there are tv days and that is okay. They can't all be stunners.
Calling a duck Shirley, doesn't keep it from quacking.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just starting...again
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've crashed on friends couches, floors, chairs, bathtubs, back porches, inside of cars, pets and the gray line between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
But I've always preferred a comfy couch with a warm blanket, unless it is Summer. Then no blanket. Unless the AC is blasting, then a blanket.
Interests
Exploration, discovery, swimming, laughs, good people, delicious food, good wine (and such), non-aggressive bicycling, forests, sunlight, great beaches, being in the city, being in the countryside (but not for too long), Scuba

Music, Movies, and Books
I guess movie wise, my 2 faves are "The Science of Sleep" and "Amelie"-but I like a ton of other stuff as well. Music-Elliott smith, the Radio Dept, Jarvis, Richard Hawley, Ed Harcourt, Cat Power, the Modern Lovers, Otis Redding, the Beatles, other things...
I don't really read that much. I guess the last book I read was "Cruising Paradise" by Sam Shepard. That was pretty good. It was short stories, so I didn't have to commit to it. And they were fun to read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Leaving my beloved Chicago to teach kids in South Korea. Seeing students learn and progress and correct my mistakes.
Rising through schools of gentle "Hanchi" or purple squid on my way to the surface, of what must be the other side, on Jeju Island.
Dodging cows in Chennai in an autorickshaw driven by Michael Schumacher himself.
