About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Varied and shrouded in drunken mythology. I jumped on a flight in January 2009, beginning months of adventures, ably assisted by a ragtag band of friends old, new and recurring, aquaintances and random people I met in pubs.

Reading that again 5.5 years later, very little has changed. Except fortunately my writing style has become a lot calmer!

Sometimes the adventures have been put to one side while work or relationships have taken priority, other times I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to go abroad and live the dream. I have recently lived abroad in Latin America for a year, and now I am back in London.

ABOUT ME

Spend as much time as possible escaping from the monotony of a "real job" and in doing so delaying my metamorphosis into a "proper adult". Exploring the world, seeing amazing things, meeting brilliant people, having a fantastic time, and achieving new things seems, having adventures which will influence me and that I will remember forever seems far better than waking up early and commuting to work. Long may the adventures continue! Albeit, there is this thing called money which can sometimes get in the way...

PHILOSOPHY

I used to like the phrase - "Its not what you're capable of, its what you're willing to do."
But now I simply prefer, "Be happy." We only get one chance at Life (probably, depending on what you believe) it seems a shame to waste it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I intend on meeting new people through couchsurfing, enjoying its ideals and returning the favour to anyone who helps me out now, once I am back in England.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first was at the iconic Forest in Brisbane. It was an eye opening experience. Met some genuinely interesting people I would never have come across in a hostel.

Interests

Meeting people, learning fascinating things, smiling, laughing, sharing adventures, having fun, seeing beautiful things, going out, enjoying the occasional fine wine or at least an inexpensive beer, caipirinha or whatever else happens to be on offer.
Films - love the Big Lebowski and The Empire Strikes Back.
Sport - Football, cricket, American football.
Books - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Fear and Loathing, 1984, Sharpe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went through the looking glass and dared to live the dream so fully that death will tremble to take me.

Or, to put it another way (updating this 5 years later with something more sensible), I have done many things some of which I find amazing, some of which other people may not. Would love to chat with you and find out what you have done and share memories, laugh, smile and reminisce.

Recently I was in the stadium when Brazil lost 1-7 to Germany!

Teach, Learn, Share

Oliver Reed - King of the Hellraisers, sadly lost in action May 2nd 1999.

Classical Civilisation - Ancient Rome and Greece. Homer, Virgil.

Football. I love all sport!

A lot of useless but interesting..ish knowledge of a variety of eclectic subjects.
