About Me

[FABIO]
Hello! We are Anna, Fabio, Oliver and Amelia - a dysfunctional stitched-together family that spends most of the time clubbing each other on their heads.

[ANNA] (scolding him)
You can't say that, you idiot! You're going to scare people away.

[FABIO]
You do it, then. Go on.

[ANNA]
Hey there - we are Anna, Fabio, Oliver and Amelia. We're a lovely family... of...
(pauses)
Now you ruined it for me. I can only think about the endless bickering. You're the worst!

----------

[FABIO]
Yeah, that's usually how it goes when we start writing family profiles, haha!

But - we met more than our fair share of interesting people over the years, and we always loved our guests, their life stories, their way of travelling. Meeting people is the best way to travel - even when you're not, in fact, physically travelling.

You can come and visit us! We are especially interested in meeting, hosting and surfing with other families, but even if you're traveling alone, give us a ping - we might have a place for you. If you're not allergic to cats. In that case... abort! Abort!
We don't often travel ourselves but we've been lucky enough to do so a little more in these last few years, especially around Europe. We are also interested in house swaps if that's a thing you're willing to discuss - but you have to feed the cats. And the hamster. And avoid feeding the hamster to the cats (poor thing, he must live in constant terror).

We live in quite a spacious apartment, fairly close to the centre and the beach of Pesaro, and are happy to host families as our preference (you know - it's fun to exchange parenting methods, horror stories, best ways to cook a 10-year-old... these sort of things).
We are sure that our place is much more interesting during the summer, rather than in winter.

Again - please bear in mind that our place is not for allergic people, sorry. Unless agonising asthma is something you dig.

...and now, a bit about us! - Thought I forgot about that, eh?

We are family of four.

Anna - worked in hospitality in London and Italy, now organising private English lessons for kids. Loves cooking, reading, photographing, sharing time with others, travelling (always too little though).

Fabio - used to work in hospitality in Milan and London, then in Pesaro. Works as a music composer and sound designer, mostly for videogames. Huge Star Trek fan - and lots of sci-fi series and movies. Big nerd.

Oliver - born in 2010 - is a clever, funny and very open boy, who loves to do thousand things in one day. Very independent, sometimes too independent! He doesn't care about dangers, always keen on trying new things. He plays piano, a little bit guitar - unfortunately lots of trap music instead of Metallica, but nobody's perfect.

Amelia - born in 2012 - is a shy and sweet girl, she always find a way to play with anything, creates artwork and toys with literally anything. She has a very artistic soul, she loves to draw, sing and badly mess up her room with paper trims, glue, paint... to her mom's delight.

We also have four cats, living in the apartment. Two of them, Eric and Red - are tabbies that came with us all the way from London. Fred is the family mascot: a cat that is nonplussed by life and never, ever reacts to anything (I think he's lobotomised or something). Kate is the cat equivalent of an anxious, coffee-loving human who is totally insecure around big groups - she hides when she hears new people in the house, but after the first 14 days, you will grow on her and will allow you to pet her.

PHILOSOPHY

[ANNA] "Do whatever makes you happy"

[FABIO] Pizza. Pizza makes me happy.

[ANNA] (facepalm, groaning) You're hopeless, you know that?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Here's a quote, from "The Legend of 1900" (book by A. Baricco, film by G. Tornatore) that really applies to us:

He knew how to read, Nineteen Hundred did! ...not books, anybody can do that.

Нe knew how to read people. The signs people carry on them - places, sounds, scents, their land, their story, everything written on them.

Нe would read and, with infinite care, catalogue, organize, and make order in that immense map that he was drawing in his mind.

Maybe he'd never seen the world, but for almost 30 years the world had been passing on that ship.

And for almost 30 years on that ship, he'd been spying on it and he would steal its soul."

Our CS experience started in London, where we hosted a few couples and families. We loved it.

In these last few years, since we live in Italy we met some wonderful people through CS that we keep in touch and try to meet more often.

CouchSurfing for us has been all about fun, exchanging ideas, helping fellow travellers and making friends.

Interests

We do have very different interests, that spans from photography and psychology to composing music and sound recording, from reading to the occasional game on the PlayStation...

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, a bit of everything.

Fabio loves science fiction, all Star Trek movies and series are probably number one.
Anna, painfully getting used to science fiction (quess why...) - likes easy movies, comedies, few series (especially crime dramas), good psychological movies from time to time, definitely lost interest in horror movies.

Books, oh well... looooooooooooots.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Anna - may sound silly, but actually I think that the most amazing thing I did in my life was to leave my country, explore what other countries has to offer in terms of their culture... I believe that has changed my personality, let me become more open-minded.

Fabio - completely changing my career from hospitality to composing full time at 35. A lot of stress and rewards mixed together, haha. I think I'm getting the knack of it now.

Teach, Learn, Share

For starters... pasta making!

We can go out gallivanting on the beach, record a song, play board games, roleplaying, visit Pesaro and other towns in the area together...

Love to hear and learn about great places to see, explore...

Share time, stories, experiences!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our house.

We'd love to spend time with you, dine together at our place...

We can share our parenting experience if you are interested. :P

The kids would be very happy to involve you in some board games, or drawing...
