Our country is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The big island is known as Britain and consists only of England, Scotland and Wales, but people from Northern Ireland are still British.

Ireland shares the island of Ireland with Northern Ireland, although Ireland is its own country and not part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It's really simple once you get your head around it.
