Hello! I am Theo and I am a student from the United Kingdom. I am a student at Cambridge University, reading Japanese Studies. I will try to remember to change my profile information for the times when I am back in Oxford but I can make no promises. I want to try and speak in other languages because in England they are bad at teaching language! I can speak some Japanese and French and will have a go at other languages as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My mother has hosted people on Couch Surfing for a little over 3 years now and I have greatly enjoyed being a part of that. Our guests were entertaining, polite, happy people and I thought that Couchsurfing looked like the best way to travel. Couchsurfing strikes me as a wonderfully personal way to travel whilst interacting with people and practicing language. I have enjoyed facilitating the hosting experience and wish to try being on the other end.

Interests

I am a huge music fan and listen very widely; I also play bass in two bands. I like reading and am especially interested in translated literature, specifically those from Japan and Italy. I am also extremely passionate about film, particularly documentaries and domestic dramas. Outside of this I watch American Football and cricket when I can. I play board games with a group of friends when we have the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Prague and travelled on every possible tram in the same evening. I did this with two other people to prove to other people in our group that it was possible and we got lost on at least 3 separate occasions but it was fun to eat dinner and have no idea where we were only to reuinite with the group in time to go back. I want to try and do this with other cities some time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help in people's learning of English seeing as that is the only language I am fluent in. I play guitar and bass and have had fun playing music with couchsurfers in the past so that could be fun!

I like to learn foreign languages and cultures so any cultural experience is greatly appreciated.
