ABOUT ME

Hello,
I am a very open minded, positive and friendly person. I always think of myself as being a little shy but usually people laugh at this. I've traveled quite a bit so most of my awkward shyness has been forcefully evaporated. I love hanging out and talking with people. I'm not the most highly skilled of individuals(I have a humanities degree) but I like to think I have pretty good conversation skills.

I am born and mostly bred in Dublin, Ireland.I have visited countries in Europe and South East Asia for short periods of time. I have also lived for a year in Nebraska when I was twelve. I lived in Slovenia for 10 months and went to university as part of the Erasmus program, which rocked! I lived in Yellowstone National park for a summer which was awesome nothing like living in a cabin surrounded by your friends beautiful scenery and bison. I also spent a summer in Rome, Italy working as a porter, housekeeping worker and randomly as a wedding choir singer. I spent last year working as an English teacher in South Korea. My time in Korea was great it was my first taste of the "real" world. I then moved to New York State and worked as an environmental teacher in the outdoors. I lived and worked at a YMCA camp for 10 months in the Catskill Mountains which was an amazing and rewarding experience. My time living and traveling abroad has given me a plethora of funny stories and amazing memories which I'd be happy to share. Since then I have lived in Denver and have worked with youth as an advocate, mentor, and, counselor.

Sorry if this bio thing is boring I've been filling out job applications for the past few months and am sort of on auto pilot

PHILOSOPHY

Live every day like it's your last. My parents always encouraged us to follow our interests which is what I aim to do for the rest of my life.

I am not a rock nor an island. They also taught us that we are not islands we are part of a community and it is important to be an active member of this community. This includes caring not only for people but also for the environment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only been able to host a little bit because since I've joined I've moved around quite a lot. I've couchsurfed a few times and loved it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My main couchsurfing experience has been in America. I stayed with some really cool people and had a lot of fun. I still send postcards and they are welcome to visit whenever they want, wherever I am.

I'm interested in everything and anything including:

Chatting, going on adventures, hiking, swimming, any extreme sport( I haven't done too many but want to do ALL of them), reading, scuba diving (any water sports actually), I love traveling, hanging out, listening to new music, snowboarding, tennis. Lots of things! I love to try new things and don't mind making a fool of myself

I also have an interest in writing, exercising and learning new languages but am hampered by laziness

I love movies from artistic ones to good old actioners. My favorite animation movie is probably Wall-E but in terms of live action movies there are so many I like I couldn't pick a favorite.

I currently like folksy kind of music but I appreciate all music as much as the next person. I love music but am afraid my musical education is a bit lacking. I need and enjoy to be introduced to new cool music.

I am an avid reader it goes with the territory(of being an English student)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I've seen and experienced lots of cool things, the same like everyone. One of the coolest things I've seen was the Škocjan caves in Slovenia. They are on the UNESCO world heritage list and definitely deserve to be there. The main cave section is the most immense thing I've been in, it looks like something from Lord of the Rings.

I got PADI certified in Open Water Diving off the coast of Thailand. Although we didn't dive TOO deep it was still amazingly beautiful. I love all things water and this allowed me to experience the sea life in a new and awe inspiring way. Other great things I've seen include, the sun setting over Anjkor Wat, the sun setting over Halong Bay, the Cliffs of Moher, wild bears in Yellowstone National Park, paragliding over the mountains of Korea, chilling in a lava warmed river, the first time my nephew said my name.

These are just a few things grand and not so grand but all equally amazing, at least to me.

I guess I know quite a bit about different cultures and ways of life which I'd be happy to teach/share with anyone.

I would love to learn a language or a new skill, especially a practical skill.
