About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I exist to be happy and to learn.
ABOUT ME
A lot of people here only need their profile picture to quickly find a couch! I have only my personality to offer!
I'm an American who has been living in Germany for 8 years. I sometimes feel smarter than most, dumber than many, but I still feel like an idiot. I have a hard time identifying with a lot of people because I prefer not to deal with ordinary, everyday things. I think a lot of people create their own problems and these are people I generally like to avoid.
I don't look for friends or find them, friends just naturally gravitate towards me because people either like me or they don't, (or something in between) and all I have to do is be myself. I don't like to attract attention to myself. I either like to be alone, or surrounded by intelligent and/or interesting people that enhance my life.
I'm simple, (mostly) quiet, friendly, slow, self-centered, relaxed, unreliable, honest, curious, and I have a terrible memory (mostly with things that don't interest me). I really dislike stress and drama. I generally do whatever I want (like a spoiled teenager) but my natural propensity for balance (mostly) keeps me out of trouble.
I would be very happy being single for the rest of my life and I don't feel like I need someone to "complete" me.
PHILOSOPHY
I love simplicity in complexity and dynamic balance. I ride the wave of nature, and like a leaf on the water, I do nothing. And though I do not necessarily subscribe to Buddhist philosophy, my nature is very "Buddha-like" - simple and happy. I also think that Buddha's ideas could be updated with about two and a half millennia of new knowledge.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I offer my couch and surf myself and tell everyone I meet about it! Well... a lot of people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
On August 1st, I left Germany with just a little money and absolutely no plan. I had 31 days vacation and I used car-sharing and couchsurfing all of the way. I just went online, saw where people were driving to and joined them. It took me from Magdeburg, to Heilbronn, Basel, Geneva, Aix-en-Provence, Barcelona, Karlsruhe and back to Magdeburg again. Who knows where I'll go next!
The idea is to meet people, and see new places, but most of all, to chill and enjoy. What I don't want is stressful running around from place to place, trying to do as much as possible.
Because it's so spontaneous, it's not always easy to find such flexible couchsurfers. I spend HOURS online looking for a place to stay. Everyone wants a personalized message, so I tried that... and wasted a lot of time! People often don't even put in enough time to tell me "no". If you want a personalized message tell me at least "maybe" and I'll give you all of the information you want!

Music, Movies, and Books
I haven't really found music that fits me well but I tolerate most everything. I found an old list on a very old blog of mine and I guess it gives you an idea of things I've tolerated best:
Björk, Radiohead, Ben Harper, Bloodhound Gang, Blur, Cold Play, Concrete Blonde, Dave Matthews Band, Edie Brickell, 10,000 Maniacs, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Jake Johnson, James, John Mayer, Joy Division, Morrisey, The Pixies, Portishead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Sarah McLachlan, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, Sublime, Tool, Tori Amos, Weezer
Teach, Learn, Share
