About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel to 100 countries before we hit 30...and to get to every country in the world before 36!!

ABOUT ME

Well, where do we start...
We both love traveling and have settled into a semi-nomadic lifestyle. Bill's job requires him to travel a lot, and Jacqui is working for herself through the internet so she can travel with him. Most of the trips are for long stints in foreign countries. Bill is outgoing, boisterous and generally ready to try anything. Jacqui is a little quieter and opens up after she's gotten a chance to hang out with someone. We're both adventurous though. And we don't like to stay in one place for too long.

PHILOSOPHY

Bill - A buddy of mine summed it up perfectly... Nobody says you have to order an entree in the restaurant of life, you'll only be here once! Order the sampler, try as many as you can before you're full; odds are one of the items on this menu does more for you than you ever thought. And if not, tell the waiter that his menu sucks, throw the cook aside and invent your own masterpiece. Just pour 'em all in, all your favorite ingredients. With enough imagination, any combination will work -- there are no recipes for the paths still awaiting discovery.

Jacqui - I'd rather have a meaningful conversation about something trivial than a trivial conversation about something meaningful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our first official Couchsurfing experience was in Israel and it was AWESOME! We've been lucky enough to host some great people while we lived in upstate NY and now we're in Nashville...getting quite a few more requests than we ever did in the boonies of NY. Having a great time meeting new people down here and sharing what we know about Nashville...and learning many new things with our Surfers too

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our friends and us generally did this when visiting each other. Now that we're doing it through Couchsurfing, we're meeting so many more people than we ever would have before and making a lot of good friends.

Interests

Bill - traveling of course, cars(restoration, racing, and cruising around), motorcycles (cruising), skiing (snow and water), boating, sailing, cliff diving, bungee jumping, lounging on the beach with a caiparinha, exploring new areas...I'm up for pretty much anything

Jacqui - travel, all kinds of music and art, reading, animals, walking, horseback-riding, food!

Music, Movies, and Books

Bill - Movies (anything action, comedies, thrillers are ok sometimes too), Music (Country, Rock(all kinds), some Rap, some Classical, anything with a good beat), Books (political thrillers, scientific thrillers, westerns, sci-fi, frontier stories)

Jacqui - Movies (action, period dramas, sci-fi - but I like just about anything that isn't solely based on sophomoric humor), Music (can't think of any I really dislike - though I prefer something with a good melody), Books (I prefer sci-fi, fantasy, and 'the classics' but I also enjoy modern dramatic novels and non-fiction)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bill - Wow...lots that could be on here. Getting a Macao to dance on Jacqui's shoulder in Brazil. Driving a 3-door hatchback from London to Ulaanbataar. Driving through a blizzard in a hopped up Pontiac Trans Am in upstate New York. Going on a Jet-Boat ride around Sydney Harbour. There's more, but those are stories for another day.

Jacqui - Watching the sunset over Pacific in the Galapagos knowing there wasn't land in that direction for hundreds if not thousands of miles. Visiting ancient Irish ruins and seeing how much time and devotion went into building them. Snorkling with sea lions who knowingly teased me their prowess in underwater acrobatics.

Teach, Learn, Share

Bill - I'm very mechanically inclined. I can figure out pretty much any mechanism with a little bit of time. Good with cars. And I've got lots of good stories from traveling. I'm interested in learning new languages and about other countries. Anyone with a story to share is welcome.

Jacqui - I'm a bit of a geek. I'm good with computers, pottery, singing, cooking, and possess a wealth of randomly useful information from my father and the discover/history channel.
