About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Break on through to the other side!!!

ABOUT ME

Here and there. A little bit of this and that. Sugar, spice, and everything nice (not!) Another Alice in another wonderland. Heaven dropped out - but failed hell's entrance test too. Naive yet intrigued by everything in life (that's how I got into many troubles) Surreal metaphors and psychedelic symbols. Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess. DIY movies, music, and theater productions. A clockwork orange. The virgin suicides. Margaret Atwood and Ayu Utami. Janis Joplin, The Doors, and other dead rock stars. Yodeling and "Nembang Jawa". Song writing, acting, singing, teaching. 12 bar blues... black blaaacckk blueeesss.... cold cooollddd beers.....

More about me? I'm someone too small for a world so big. I've got a feeling that my life is very short so gotta make the most of it.

I've quitted my damn office job in January 2010 and ready for more adventures coming soon. Planning to do only what I really love to do in life: traveling - teaching - writing - and singing... no more wasting my precious time of my life... that's a pact!

I had lived in San Francisco for 2 years before relocating to my hometown, Jakarta. I live with my husband -who's an awesome musician, my parents, and my dog.

PHILOSOPHY

"Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day; teach a man how to fish and he'll eat forever" - Archaic Chinese Proverb

"Do what u do with love, or don't do it at all" - Iswahyudi Sunarto (actor/ director/ lecturer/ Indonesia's Shakespeare expert)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined this community in 2009, and ever since I've had amazing Couchsurfing experience!

Unfortunately, however... more and more people joined Couchsurfing merely to find a place to crash which can be seen by the unpersonal template-like couch request without really reading the profile carefully. This is not a free hotel site, people... this is a site to make friends and help people travel more, AND THIS IS NOT A DATING SITE AND I'M HERE NOT TO FIND A DATE... so show a little respect to the mission. Peace!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: A. Gonzalez Innaritu's, Jean-Pierre Jeuneut's, Stanley Kubrick's, experimental indie movies, world festival films which titles I can't even spell/pronounce, etc...

Books: Margaret Atwood's, Anthony Burgess', George Orwell's, Ayu Utami's, Dewi Lestari's, Ursula LeGuin's, Arundhati Roy's, Salman Rusdhie's, etc...

Music: The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Greatful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, etc... (I guess I was born in the wrong decade... or maybe because I was raised by former hippies?)
Ah yes, I also love Bjork, Kula Shaker, Franz Ferdinand, Devotchka, The Dresden Dolls, Margo Guryan, Janiva Magness, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Joanna Newsom, and Indinesia's local rock heroes: That's Rockefeller, The Brandals, Efek Rumah Kaca, Zeke & The Popo, The Monophones, etc.. (at least those are from this decade...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't write only one! There're so many interesting things I have done in my life!!

Living and studying in San Francisco. For free. Yeah, for real. No work. Just study.

Climbed Mt. Sinai in Egypt

Got a tattoo of a beautiful lotus mandala done on my back for my quarter life b'day present

Watched sunset from a 7 meter tall granite stone in Belitung Island, one of my favorite off beat tracks of Indonesia

Kissed an elephant in a local circus.

On the front row of The Cure's live concert in Singapore - Robert Smith was only a couple feet away!

With my band, got our 1st independent album released in 2007. In 2011, we released our 2nd album.

With my band mates & drinking buddies, after a very successful gig, got really really drunk over some cheap local liquor in Jakarta's dodgiest "lapo" (some sort of a Batak traditional "street pub")- If u were there, u'll understand how amazing it was

Got some writings published.

Got lost alone in Paris - I was only 18 and really clueless back then. But then I got addicted of unexpected surprises you find when you're traveling alone and got lost.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sing the blues, baby! Yay!
And yea, I can teach how to swear in Indonesian...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Laos, Malaysia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
