About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be excited about life and all the awesome things that happen!
ABOUT ME
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with my BSW in August 2010, and then promptly made my way down to St. Louis to become a member of Americorps STL's Emergency Response Team. After spending a year doing awesome stuff, I switched to a different AmeriCorps St. Louis team, and spent my second year doing different awesome stuff. I decided to stay in St. Louis after I finished my service, and am now attending grad school.
I've crossed off my inner heartbroken-by-Katrina 17 year's to-do list, which consisted of "respond to disaster!" I was able to do meaningful service during my first year of AmeriCorps through tornado response, conservation, and wildland firefighting. I am incredibly grateful for the things I've learned and gotten to do. I'm a trained sawyer, and I miss using a chainsaw.
I joined a women's rugby team. I'm learning how to tackle people and workout properly.
PHILOSOPHY
Solidarity.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The sheer resilience and strength of the Joplin community has left an indelible mark on my heart. I spent nine weeks there responding to the tornado that destroyed 1/3 of the town, and I still think about it everyday. My feelings about my experience there are complicated, but I'm thankful that I was able to see such an amazing outpouring of love within that town.
