About Me

My name is Theresa Hoang and I am a graduate of the University of Toronto. I graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology: Global Health and Criminology. In addition to being a student, I work as a lifeguard and swim instructor at University Settlement - a community recreation centre in the core of downtown Toronto. I love meeting new people, travelling and making a positive difference in any way I can!

Currently, I am a nursing student and enjoy the clinical placements I am at. I have the opportunity to meet many patients and my favorite part is that I get to build relationships through therapeutic communication and the care I provide. When I am not in school, I travel as much as I can because the world is a beautiful place, and there are endless stories to hear and share!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend recommended this site to me while looking for places to stay in my upcoming trip to Europe, and I also think it would be a fun idea to potentially host people who are looking for places to stay in Toronto.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some genres of music I like indie pop, alternative rock, and hip hop. I love listening to Rihanna and Khalid. My favourite movie is I Am Sam, Little Miss Sunshine and Without a Paddle. My favourite book is Perfume Dreams and The Kite Runner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer, I was an au pair for a family of 3 children in Barcelona for 2 months. It was an amazing experience and I got to meet people from across the world. I had the opportunity to experience the culture of the Spaniards and immerse myself in a place different from my own home in Canada. During the week, I explored the city and surrounding areas; and on the weekends, I flew to Switzerland, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, and Czech Republic. I started the adventure by myself, and ended it with amazing new friends and unforgettable memories.
