A chilled-out chica. Open-minded, inquisitive and up for adventures.

I'm a London-born and bred girl with an insatiable thirst for travel. I first got the travel bug at 17 on an exchange trip to France, where I learnt to pull pints at a bar (that was my work experience, haha!). The family I stayed with and the chance to practice my (awful) French with customers inspired me to keep seeking out experiences where I could travel while learning languages and working. Since then I've gone on to teach children, work as an interpreter and tutor adults in Spain, South Africa and Japan with plenty of extra travel in between. These days, as a researcher, I get to put all of my international experience and curiosity about people to good use!

From couchsurfing, I've learnt that the destination really doesn't matter. Of course there are some destinations that are personal musts, but some of the best trips I've had were either spontaneous or the most affordable option that I wouldn't have picked otherwise. And these were great because it was the people I met that often ended up making those experiences special. This is also true of local travel too. Now I'm back in London, I'm trying to make the most out of nearby places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many songs to mention. I do love a good old sing-a-long, regardless... Movies: I generally love comedies, horror and documentaries. Books-wise, mainly ends up being post-colonial literature and autobiographies. TV-show wise, pretty much anything : drama, comedy, reality...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning to snowboard in Japan totally changed my mindset on life as well as my outlook on my own capabilities. It has also made me a lot more outdoorsy!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of cups of tea, good conversation and good local knowledge. I'm pretty easy-going, so whether hanging out or doing my own thing, I'm not a traveller who is there to just take. I give back in any way that I can, whether it's helping tidy up, cooking or buying a beer for my host.
