About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to be fun and important

ABOUT ME

I am fun and important.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is not a giant "to do" list.

I am very good at forgetting about the past and not thinking about the future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined, so I haven't done anything yet. I am heading to Europe shortly and I hope I can crash on a few couches while I'm there. Once I return, I will happily host people at my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't done couchsurfing through this website before, but as a college student I spent many nights on friend's couches because I didn't have an apartment on campus. Eventually I decided that if I'm already living like a traveler I might as well go somewhere new...and so I'm going to Europe!

Interests

I am interested in fun.

I read a lot. I go for walks a lot. Sometimes I run instead.

I like to learn new things. I am interested in anthropology. I like to learn about the history of thoughts and the measurements of happiness.

Traveling is important to me because it reminds me that there are as many ways to live a life as there are people on the planet.

I am currently writing a screenplay about zombies.

Music, Movies, and Books

How can I answer this question? I don't want to take the easy way out and write "I like everything" but it is hard to say what I like best because it changes from moment to moment. A couple months ago and I might have written that Graham Greene is the greatest deceased writer of the last century, but now Kurt Vonnegut has passed I just don't know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two of my sisters and I rode a train home from a Zen Buddhist temple after making a white lotus flower lantern. We made that lantern for my best friend, who died earlier that day. As we sat there we started to cry silently and when I looked up I saw that other passengers were crying with us. This might seem like a very sad story, but it is not. At that moment I felt strong compassion of others and for others. Strangers cried and mourned with us without knowing why. I am not a Buddhist but I do believe in much of what they believe in. From that moment, it has been easier for me to see the compassion and Buddha nature in others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am the best cook in my family. I'll cook for you/with you.

I've worked as a writing tutor and have some experience teaching ESL students. I can help you with English or writing.

I'd like to learn more languages
