About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to develop my language skills. I have, for far too long, been a stereotypical British person who can only speak English. This, for me, is not good enough. As such, I just want to get around as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

I grew up near Manchester. I then took a gap-year, in which I worked for a few months and then went backpacking around Europe. I managed to visit most of the major cities, but there are still some holes in my itinerary....

Beyond that, I enjoy reading, listening to music and watching football. My favourite team is Tottenham Hotspur. My favourite book is probably Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon for its sheer brevity. My favourite band is the Smiths, they are irreplaceable.

In Edinburgh I study English Literature and Philosophy. Books are my real passion, and I always try to be reading.

PHILOSOPHY

Not really got one as of yet...

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Gravity's Rainbow, Sons and Lovers, On the Road, Oroonoko, Things Fall Apart, What a Carve Up! A fair few more...
Music: The Smiths, Bruce Springsteen, Animal Collective, Refused, Peter Fox, Jaymay, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead... I try to listen to as much of a mix of music as possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Berlin last year I saw the Dalai Lama give a speech at the Brandenburger Tor. It was amazing. I was with three friends, two of which went off to buy some cakes. One of their cakes was stolen by a seagull. Karma?

Teach, Learn, Share

As a student of philosophy, I can at least attempt to talk about certain topics... I know a fair bit about books, so I can always recommend a good book. The same goes for music as well. I'm not so good with movies though.
