About Me

CURRENT MISSION

love. love. love. (yourself, others, the universe). OM

ABOUT ME

after i graduated from college, i packed up the car and headed south of ohio to experience hosteling. one of the most pivotal decisions i have ever made. i tried corporate america and didn't care for it so i got a job on a hawaiian cruise ship. for two years, i worked seasonal jobs: winters @ copper mountain in colorado and summers in alaska on a cruise ship. after that, i worked year round for lindblad expeditions (partnered with national geographic) on their cruise ships doing cruises in baja, alaska, costa rica/panama. for the past two years, i have been traveling and finding whatever jobs here and there to keep going with this lifestyle as it works for me. the goal here is to see the world, experience other cultures and ways of living. i love cities just as much as i love hiking and being out in nature. oh, and i love being in the desert for burning man each fall. i want to step up my travels and that is why i have joined couch surfers!

PHILOSOPHY

my philosophy in a short blurb on, yet another internet profile. hmmmm...please do not misunderstand-i think couchsurfing is fabulous. i am simply old fashioned and i believe my philosophy is best shared in a national best-seller or, more likely, a conversation IN PERSON over a few pints or glasses of vino. i'm simple that way. the internet, email, texting, well...it's over the top for me. so, i use it when i need it, but i am not a junky. wannna know my philosophy? well, let's meet for a drink-and let our hands and eyes relax for a damn minute. ahhhhh....better, isn't it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i have turned several people onto couchsurfing and one day, if i ever have a couch, i'll certainly be open to giving back to the community in that way. for now, i offer my conversation and experiences with those i meet thru CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i was surfing couches in 1998 before i even knew what couch surfing was. i was traveling and needed places to lay my head and so i met people and they invited me in. grand experiences! now, i also use the CS website to meet people and to see the world. the experiences and people i have met are cherished.

Interests

free time....i view most of time as "free" time. i chose how i spend the precious moments i am allocated while here on earth. just how many? who knows...so i tend to live in the moment. i enjoy music, being silly, listening to those in need-i frequent bars alone and chat for hours with lonely men. it's just what i do. i also enjoy yoga yoga yoga. it's amazing! i enjoy rock concerts, the beach, the ocean, glaciers, you name it and let's do it!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

i like to watch people. not on tv shows. in reality. that's the best! i enjoy a variety of styles of music...arabic, belly dancing, greek, spanish, whatever! oh, except country. i like folk and johnny cash, just no garth brooks or the like. books? lots of them-mostly non-fiction (i.e. "half the sky" and "long walk to freedom"-nelson mandela's autobiography). movies? i like documentaries such as baraka, amandela and samsara. TV? no time for such nonsense.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i don't like favorites and i don't like ranking. i have experienced many amazing things. some as simple as an ant crossing a sidewalk (i am short-i am close to the ground and thus, the ants) to doing yoga nidra and feeling very connected to spirit. i've been to south georgia island and hung out with THOUSANDS of penguins and albatross. that was memorable.

Teach, Learn, Share

i want to learn how people work. how they tick. where they come from, why they feel the way they do, why they do what they do, et cetera. i feel i share a patient and understanding way of listening. life is complicated and life is simple. let's figure it out-all together now.
