About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learning by teaching. Staying in touch with what it means to be human.
ABOUT ME
Oberlin grad, cooperative geek, and general pursuer of simple living. I love to travel and have lived/worked in 9 different states. Mostly stay in the U.S., though I am interested in doing more international travel/living as I grow older.
Living in Seattle, working as a middle school science teacher full-time. I love chatting education with folks on the inside, so hit me up if you want teacher talks
PHILOSOPHY
There is no such thing as the wrong decision, if it's done with good intentions and an open mind. Everyone begins with good intentions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I traveled in summer 2009 through the CS network in Europe and Russia. I'd love to participate in their skillshare program, start hosting more States-side, and of course, keep surfing!
Interests
An abridged list: birding and bird watching, bridge watching/building/history, Quakerism, paganism, queer theory/allyship, transgender theory/allyship, veganism, postmodern feminism, DIY culture and homesteading, political geography
I want to learn more about my relationship with my food and how to be a conscious, happy, and healthy eater.
I love being outdoors and hope to spend most of my professional life outside. I'm committed to environmental education in its diverse forms and am interested in understanding better the best role for an environmental perspective as a part of a fundamental education, both inside the classroom and out.
I'm passionate about economics and the tools it gives us for looking at the world, especially when taken outside the traditional Classical/Keynesian viewpoints. I'm terrified of advanced capitalism and want to be an effective and positive critic of the ways transnational corporations affect public space and active democracy.
I love reading and learning more about things I've never encountered before, and I really love to have a good time. I love to laugh and always want to have a smile on my face.
